Chapter 36

I sighed as I just got off the phone with my mom.

"What's wrong?" Amber asked

"I have to go to Canada for the weekend to visit my grandpa in the nursing home." I said

Tears welled my eyes.

"What happened?" Bentley asked

"He had a heart attack and before he let's go he want to see Justin and I one more time." I said

"So I'm going with?" He asked

"If you want to. The kids can stay with your mom right?" I asked

"Possibly." He said

I nodded.

We just got off the plane and my mom picked us up. I smiled and hugged her.

She hugged Justin.

We drove to the nursing home my grandpa is in, in complete silence.

We got there and I walked in first. Justin behind me mom behind him.

Grandpa looked at me and smiled. I did too as I saw him.

The tears were falling down my face.

"Hi sweetie." He said

I stood next to him.

"Hi grandpa." I said

I bent down and hugged him. He looked at Justin.

"Hi grandson in law." He said

I pulled away from him as Justin hugged him.

"Hi grandpa in law." He said

They pulled away.

"I'm gonna give you guys some time." Mom said

We nodded. She left closing the door. My grandpa put his hand on my cheek. I closed my eyes and put mine on too of his.

"Thanks for waiting." I said

"Of course." He said

"How are you feeling?" I asked

"Fine." He said

"Don't give up grandpa. You'll be fine." I said

He smiled.

"I'm gonna give you two some alone time." Jay said

I nodded not breaking the gaze from my dear grandfather.

Justin left closing the door.

Grandpa moved his hand and I held it on the bed.

"I can't hold on any longer. I love you so much and am very proud of you." He said

"I love you too forever and always." I said

I kissed his cheek and he died right there. I took a deep breathe and walked out.

"What happened?" Mom asked

"He's gone mom." I said and broke down

My dad showed up as I hugged Justin and cried on his shoulder. I sobbed I felt a hand on my back.

It was my dad. I hugged him as he just lost his dad.

"What did he say?" He asked

"He said and I quote "I can't hold on any longer. I love you so much and am very proud of you." I said
