"And then I left." I finished telling Jeff what happened between me and my best friend. The more I talked about it, the angrier I became. I just couldn't fathom Madi acting like that since she never has before, we've never even gotten into fights, I mean, we've had arguments but who doesn't? The arguments never last more than a few hours anyway.

"I'm sorry, Shay. What are you gunna do about tonight?" He questioned.

"It's not your fault." I tell him. " and I guess I have to find somewhere to stay for a few days. It's not like you can just go back there after all of that."

The kitchen was quiet for a second before Jeff replied. "Stay here."

At first I was speechless I didn't know what to say. "I couldn't ask you to do that for me."

"You didn't ask. I'm asking you if you'd like to stay." I tried to decline again but he had cut me off. "No, no. Listen, alright? You don't have anywhere else to go, Shay. And since Cody moved out I don't have anyone to stay here with nerf when I'm gone so it'd work out for both of us."

He was right. I didn't have anywhere else to go. Maybe staying here wouldn't be so bad. "Okay." I said reluctantly. "I'll stay."

"You can stay in my room and I can sleep on the couch for a few nights. If you want, you can put your stuff in there." He offered.

"Are you sure? I don't want to over step."

"Quit." He ordered. "Just let me help you and keep your negative opinions to yourself."

He left me speechless but so grateful. I told him I appreciated everything he was doing for me and he showed me where to put my belongings. The bedroom looked quite minimalistic but nevertheless, the bed looked insanely comfortable.

"So, I know you told me you were on cyber for college, but do you work at all because if so I'll need to give you a key so you can get back in if I'm not here." Jeff explained holding an extra key.

"Oh, I won't be staying long." I told him but he just looked at me with his eyebrow cocked. Even though I would only be a few days, I still accepted the piece of metal. "I work part time at an animal clinic. I watch the animals, take them out to go to the bathroom, clean their cages. Y'know, Simple things that don't require a degree."

"Well then this really will be perfect because that's basically what I need you to do for Nerf." He added.

I nodded my head and smiled, "okay deal."

We exchanged a few more words and then he left me to my own. I unpacked a few things like my phone charger and my perfume, deodorant. Things that I know I would need every day. As far as my clothes and other things, I just left those in my duffel.

I sat on the bed and sure enough it was comfortable but as I looked around I realized this was going to be my home for the next few days. It made me sad knowing what led up to this, knowing the only reason I was here was because of Madi acting like.. well I don't even have a word for how she was acting. None that are nice anyway.

I didn't want to think about it anymore so I went out into the living room. As soon as I open the bedroom door I was surprised to see Jeff standing there.

"Oh. uh.. hey." He muttered awkwardly.

"Hi? What were you doing?" I asked with confusion covering my face.

This time he spoke with much more confidence then before, "I was just coming in to see if you wanted take out."

"Oh. Yeah sure, I'm fucking starving." I admitted.

"Good because I already ordered it." He added before walking away.

I jokingly scoffed, " if you already ordered it then why did you even ask."

" I decided it was the polite thing to do." He shrugged.

This is going to be an interesting, but fun, few days.
