It'd been weeks and weeks of everybody avoiding talking about Nikki and I's moment, and I couldn't say I wasn't relieved about that.
When he laid his hands on me, there was nothing but an intense wave of pleasure rushing through my system, but it was so damn stupid of me to even think about wanting to get involved with him.
A part of me knew that if anything were to happen between us again, it might lead to a relationship or being 'friends with benefits'--and I just couldn't handle the thought of how messy, chaotic and dangerous that would've been.
But the other part of me craved all of it... and more.
"Happy birthday, Chris!"
Tommy threw an arm around my shoulder as we sat at a booth in our favorite diner, a cupcake and a chocolate milkshake in front of me as some sort of thank you/ happy birthday from my newest, unlikeliest, best friend.
"Thank you T," I smiled at him, twirling the straw in between my fingers, "thanks for bringing me out today, I didn't think I'd end up celebrating twenty this year."
He took a bite out of his ice cream sundae, cocking his head to the side, "why not?"
I couldn't help but laugh when ice cream began to trail down his chin and he used his tongue to lick it up.
"I don't know. I guess so much happened, I didn't think anyone would remember--or even want to celebrate with me today." I smiled over at him, a genuine smile that exploded onto my face the second we made direct eye contact. "So, thank you. I'm grateful that you brought me here."
"Dude, what kinda best friend would I be if I didn't do something nice for you on your birthday?" He grinned, "I just wished the others wanted to come too..."
"It's fine, I haven't spoken to Beth properly in weeks and the only thing Nikki has said to me is 'get your ass back on your side.'" I groaned though a smile found its way to my face.
"See, if you didn't have a girlfriend who kept coming to stay, I'd be able to share with you--but you're selfish, " I winked and he croaked out a laugh, almost choking as he must've found that way too hilarious.
"Yeah, it sucks kid--"
"--Actually, Tommy, you're the kid. I'm twenty, you're nineteen," he scrunched his face up before poking out his tongue. "But yeah. It does suck. Especially now that the happy couple is home.
He rolled his eyes, not saying anymore on the topic.
The first few days after our 'encounter', I spent each night with Tommy because I just couldn't bear to sleep alone... but then one night, Tommy met the girl who was to quickly become his new love interest... and she was interesting alright.
