"Gene!" The young Ro'meave sighed out as he entered the the house of the town medic. Said man was sitting up, bandages around his shoulder, holding a lightly bloodied cloth in place.

Zane dropped down onto the bed, embracing his lover carefully, his hold still firm though.

"What the hell happened!? Who were you even with when you were attacked" he asked, seeming to finally relax for the first time in nearly a day. Sasha had been sitting on a stool near the bed, trying not to look at Zane for fear of giving something away.

"He had stopped by my house right as the sun fully set. I knew he didn't have time to get back to you so I invited him in. We were both asleep when... it broke in and attacked us. It yanked Gene right out of the bed and tore into him, but when it saw me it seemed to get panicked and it ran" she explained softly.

She was still shaken up about the whole thing. About being only feet away from the lover of the man she'd been sleeping him, and certainly about the fact that they could have easily died last night. And how she was sure that she had been the intended target.

"Damn thing couldn't manage to finish me off though. I got away with a mere slap on the wrist compared to what those things have done to previous victims" Gene grinned, pulling Zach e into a rough kiss, who he returned after a moment. He fixed his mask when they parted, looking pleased with this.

Gene was safe and that's all that mattered to him.

"Baby brother, I thought I told you not to get touchy with him while he's injured" mused as familiar, deep voice that made the masked male groan.

"Just be quiet. You're lucky I'm even paying you for this" Zane grumbled, lazily scowling up at the eldest Ro'Meave son.

Garroth chuckled fondly at his younger brother, ruffling his hair before pulling out a bottle from his pocket, tossing it at Gene who managed to grab it before it his the bed.

"Make sure you take those. They will help ward off the pain until it heals" he hummed before leaving them to themselves once more.

Gene shoved the bottle into the pocket of his pants before throwing his legs over the edge of the bed, pushing himself to a stand. Zane stood up with him, helping him get steady.

"We'll be heading out. Make sure you find someone to stay with while your door gets fixed, Sasha" Gene grinned, looking over his shoulder at the woman who merely nodded, getting up as well.

As she passed them, Zane smiled at her from under his mask, "thank you for taking him in last night. Don't get so down about all of this..." He murmured to her. Zane usually liked to remain serious and rude outside, but there were some situations where he knew he had to be kind.

Sasha offered him a faint smile before leaving, wanting to get away from the two so she could figure out a living situation.

Zane began to help his partner down the path, knowing he should get him home as soon as possible. He needed rest, especially after something like that.

"You had me so worried last night. I actually had to go my father and stay with him" he said quietly, trying to sound annoyed. Gene rolled his eyes and pecked the other's cheek. "I'm fine now, so stop worrying your pretty little head, sweetheart" he hummed.

Zane sighed and went the rest of the way in silence, finally returning home. He got Gene settled in bed after making him a little something to eat before heading out, already late for his meeting.

Aaron was waiting for him by the time Zane arrived at his house, but he didn't look too upset at his lateness.

Aaron and Zane had been generally aggressive to one another in the past, but one thing led to another and Zane was the apprentice of Aaron, the town Seer, a heavily guarded secret of course.

"I heard what happened to Gene. Is he holding up alright?" Aaron asked as Zane took a seat on the ground, his usual spot when joining him.

"Yeah, he's fine. I'm just glad they didn't actually slaughter him. But something didn't seem right. They both said that only one wolf attacked, but they attack in a frenzy, right? Four at least" he huffed, running his fingers through his hair.

Aaron gave a hum, arms crossed over his chest. "Yeah, he wasn't the only victim of last night. Aph and Garte found a new corpse this morning, just at the edge of the woods" he informed the younger, making him look up at him. "Who?" Was his response.

"That Ivy woman. I'm sure you know her" Aaron said, sitting down in front of the apprentice.

Zane snorted, looking away. He wasn't sure how to feel about that. Ivy was nearly his sister-in-law, engaged to Garroth at one point and totally obsessed with him. Still, hearing that she was now dead was disturbing.

Up until recently, people outside of his group had been the only ones dying, random folks he didn't know or care about. A few weeks back, it finally moved to their part of town, bringing them all into the mix. The previous week, both Dante and a woman named Donna had been killed, and the week before that, Nicole and Reese had disappeared, though their bodies were found the following week.

Everyday, people, family and friends were saying goodbye any chance they could get, unsure if their loved ones would be there the next day.

They couldn't leave either. They were practically in the middle of nowhere and anyone that was sent out to get help never returned. Any letters they'd tried as well never seemed to make it to their target either.

Aaron looked down at his apprentice, reaching over and rubbing his shoulder. "Try not to dwell on it. I know I'm getting close to figuring out who these traitors are. I swear they will pay for what they've done to out lived ones tenfold" he said, voice getting a little louder towards the end.

He was passionate about finding whoever these beasts were, for his lover and friends. Everyone was doing whatever they could to save people in their own way.

Zane relaxed a little and shrugging his hand off of his shoulder, dusting the spot off. "Just shut up and get to your lessons. I don't need to hear this speech against" he grumbled, but he was smiling and Aaron could tell.

"Okay, okay. I suppose I can do that" he chuckled. With that, Aaron began their usual lessons.
