Thunder roared as the night went on. Lightning flashing, lighting up the hallways of the castle for just a few seconds. In this lone hall, a being stood by a red painted door, at ease. Their body filled with tension, never letting their guard down; listening, waiting for anything.
A brown strap wrapped around their hips, holding their sword that laid on their left hip. Waiting for its master to pull its blue, almost black handle. Their masters pointy ears twitched at a sound beyond the door they guard.

A yelp.

The guard quickly wrapped their petite fingers on their sword's handle, a moment to burst through the door to eliminate whatever threat that is within the two people they are meant to protect. Only to be stopped by a voice from within the room.
"It's okay, Lian! It was just Ezran! He's scared of the thunder!" The unusual high pitched voice for a soon-to-be fifteen year old prince, Callum.

Another voice responded, sounding offended.
"That's not true, Lian! It was Bait! He's... scared." Replied the youngest prince, Ezran. The guard, Lian, sighed. She removed her hand from her sword. Of course, this wasn't the first time she burst through the door without a second thought. Last time she did that, the two brothers were playing. However, that wasn't the issue, it was seeing Prince Callum in his underpants with his blankets wrapped around his body as a dress, screaming and calling for help. Only for it to be some sort of game called 'pretend'. Prince Callum was pretending to be a princess, Bait was the dragon, and Prince Ezran was the knight that went to save Callum.

From then on, she was told to wait outside their door for a few seconds, if they don't answer she is able to burst through.

Lian watched from afar as Prince Callum's training commenced, her arms folded behind her back, her back straight, a calm yet stern expression was seen on her face. The royal crown guard Soren was training Prince Callum to parry. Of course, Prince Callum had little to no success of parring any of Soren's direct attacks.

She noticed Soren smug face as he, once again, dropped Prince Callum to the floor. She watched him glance at her for a second, holding her gaze, before returning to Prince Callum as he stood back up.

Prince Callum's shoulders slumped, looking over his shoulder to glance at his "appointed knight". He couldn't help but compare himself to her, how they were around the same ages and yet she had all the skills he needed to know as a prince. How he envied her. How was it that he needed this girl to protect him?! No matter how hard he trains, he just couldn't get a single move right! And because of his "lack of skills", as his King once said before appointing her as his along with his brother's personal knight, he needed protection.

So, the King chose his best knight, this elf girl, Lian.

She was around his height, a bit taller, petite yet lean body from her relentless training. Her light brown hair being held in a half ponytail. Her eyes, the brightest blue color he has ever seen, yet her face held the best poker face. He never knew what she was thinking, especially since she hardly ever talks.

Every time he tries to avoid her, it's like she always knew where he was, no matter how hard he tries she was always there by his side. Same with Ezran, but he didn't seem to have a problem with her, he liked her. Supposedly, she talks to him, though rarely.

Prince Callum was poked out of his rambling thoughts. Literally. Soren poked his head with the wooden sword they used to train to get Prince Callum's attention.

"You know, instead of hating your knight in shining blue armor, why don't you train so we don't have to have her hanging around." Soren said, smirking down at the step-prince, glancing at his appointed knight.
