Holding On

Darkness to Light

Burdened with the pain
Drowning in my sin
No one to turn to I keep sinking deep-
Into the embrace of my failures
And the roots of my deceit
Holding unto the blanket of darkness
That empty abyss that keeps closing in.

Cuffs around my wrist
Chains around my feet
Blood dripping from my eye
With the hidden guilt beneath my pride
Holding unto the pain thats keeping my alive.

No way out of this maze
My heart fire ignites
The pleasures from my shame
He took away built his empire
Took away my love,
my one's heart desires
Crushed my dreams my redemption was caged,
Beneath the smile of his bittersweet daze.

All hope was lost
A world laced with anger
The air became still and
Bits of oxygen  lingered
On a Chariot the saviour came
Dressed in his mighty armour
Destroying the chains setting my captive soul free.

Reaping away the dark coats that embraced me
Restoring the light that once filled thee.
Hope to the helpless and
Love to the wicked
Rest to the restless
Peace of mind unto thee
Breaking the chains
Searching my heart
For who I ought to be.

Filling my life with purpose again
Fruits and virtues unto thee he bestowed.
Rejecting the forces of the darkness that once hold.
Go on now and bring another lost soul home.
