"Alice." Edward calls as he sees her pull up with Blake; she notices he doesn't look too happy, so she walks ahead. Edward makes sure she's out of ear shot before he scolds his sister. "What did I tell you? Leave her out of this."
Alice glares. "No. The poor girl is suffering without Bella who seems to think the world revolves around you. All I'm doing is being a friend to her, what's the harm in that?"
He scoffs. "She needs to learn to live a little without Bella in her shadow. Stop."
"You stop seeing Bella then." Alice chirps smirking; he just growls. "Exactly. Bye now." She skips off, catching up to Blake.
Blake looks at her. "He looked mad?" She asks shyly.
"I stole one of his CDs." Alice shrugs. "You gonna be okay getting home later? We're going out this evening so I can't take you home."
Blake smiles. "Totally. Charlie is gonna get me at lunch anyway, finally might get this cast off and be with a boot for the rest of my time."
"Good luck!" Alice sings as she rushes off to her class, the bell ringing shrill around them.
Blake makes it to lunch, sitting at the table as usual; Bella doesn't sit here anymore and Blake gets the feeling she isn't so much welcome anymore, but she has nowhere else to go. She sits quietly until it's time to go to the office, Charlie waiting.
"Ready, hobbalot?" He asks with a smirk.
She glares playfully. "Hopefully you won't be calling me that after today."
He chuckles and takes her to the hospital. Much to their relief, Blake graduates from a cast to a padded boot for the final few weeks, and no more crutches. Bonus! She walks a bit with the boot, testing it out.
"Let me go sign some papers, I'll be back." Charlie says as he goes to the nurses station.
Blake keeps practicing, walking the small hallway. "Oops - sorry." She blushes, bumping to doctor Cullen.
He chuckles. "No problem, look at you. How's does it feel?"
"Weird - less itchy." She giggles. "Oh hey I wanted to ask something. Can you refill my prescription for me? I don't see the physio till next Friday and I'm running low, the pharmacy messed up." She sighs.
Carlisle frowns. "You're still on painkillers?"
"Only sometimes, I do a lot of walking. Physio said that's normal for some patients." She shrugs.
He pulls out his prescription pad and hesitantly writes it out. "Okay... Talk to your physio about this though, okay? Maybe reduce your dose soon."
"Thank you, doctor Cullen." She smiles. "Have fun tonight." She waves as she goes to meet Charlie, her heart racing. She's gotta be more careful with how much she takes...
Bella doesn't even notice the lack of cast or crutches, too interested in introducing Edward to Charlie. Blake storms upstairs to make a point, but it still doesn't bother. She's engrossed in homework when the next thing she's aware of is the door slam with yelling.
"Bella, you just got here..." Charlie says, running after Bella.
Blake leans in the doorway. "What's going-"
"I can't be here anymore. I'm going to meet mom and be with her." Bella says, shoving things in her bag.
Blake's heart breaks. "Bells..."
"Stay out of this." Bella snaps, barging past her. "Where's my sweater? Stop taking my things!"
Blake goes to the closet and throws it on the bed. She snaps the charm bracelet off her wrist and throws it too. "Get lost then. See what I care."
