Sitting on the edge of the bed, Gon wrapped his bloodied hand in the bandage and laid back, starring up at the chipped white ceiling where the light hung from a rusted chain, almost certain one of these days it was going to crash down. His arms sprawled out on both sides of him, it hurt. Badly. He couldn't even use his Nen ability to manage to take the pain away from it, and Kurapika wasn't here to heal it. He was used to this. Used to the unbearable pain he felt in his arms and legs after a battle he couldn't win, he was tiring himself out. Killua knew Gon's stubbornness and how he always nearly killed himself out of pure determination of proving what he truly believes in, and some how Gon never regrets his actions in the end.
There was a knock on the door.
"I'm coming in." Killua said almost immediately as he opened the door before Gon could even say a word.
Gon looked over, still laying down
"You love to barge in." Gon commented as Killua laid down next to him, the back of his neck rested on Gon's arm, good thing it was the one that wasn't in bandages.
"Uh-huh. Tell me what's wrong with you." Killua said, turning his head to look at him. Killua's arms laid on his own chest
Gon breathed out. "Hm? It's nothing. Nothing to worry about anyways."
"You're just upset you lost, that's the kind of person you are." Killua pressed his finger into Gon's cheek "There's no reason to mope around. That's not like you."
Gon smiled a little, closing his eyes.
He could still feel Killua's gaze starring at him.
Killua having his finger on his cheek, he pushed Gon's head to face in his direction. They were so close that he could hear his soft breathing, it was calming.
Gon's eyes opened. His bright brown eyes looking into Killua's odd iridescent blue ones.
"Remember what we said to each other on the cliff in Whale Island? How we'd protect each other and trust each other?"
Killua slowly moved his head forwards, pressing his forehead against Gon's.
Gon felt the soft bangs on his forehead, he felt himself heating up. He hasn't spoken much words, but what is there to say? Just the thought of knowing Killua was there for him, and his gentle gaze, was enough to make him feel fine again.
"So you can trust me."
"I already know that." Gon reached for Killua's hand, and held it in his damaged one.
Killua's thumb gently dragged along the bandages, his soft expression wasn't new, but it was still a little odd to see.
"You shouldn't worry so much about me, you're the one with the bigger issues." Gon said.
Killua's face turned a little red "Yeah.. Well maybe I'm returning the favor is all."
Gon giggled at Killua's grumpy remark. His bright smile was what Killua wanted to see this whole time.
Killua pecked a kiss on the back of Gon's hurt hand "You never seem to want me to comfort you. Now what will make you feel better? A fight or somethin'?"
Gon looked at Killua's head bent down, pecking kisses on his hand, he was off guard. Gon took this into consideration and wrapped both arms around Killua, rolling them over. Killua gasped in a shocking matter, since he always had his guard down when it was just him and Gon since he had nothing to worry about. "Are you challenging me?!" Killua looked up at Gon hovering over him "Maybe I am! What're you gunna do about it?" Gons attempt to lighten the mood worked, as Killua sat up, wrapping his arms around Gon and sitting up, leaning forwards. You're not getting away from me now!" Gon was giggling hysterically as Killua was tickling his sides.
"Quit it already!" Gon snorted
Killua snickered, placing his chin on his shoulder as his arms were still wrapped around him, Gon's body was facing away so his back was pressed up against him, Turning his head Gon kissed Killua's cheek. "You know what else we promised at Whale Island?"
"Hm?"
"That we'd always be together, forever."
Killua smiled. "Yeah, I remember."
The window which was almost always open allowed a reddish yellow light project across the room as the sun set, it was getting later and the colors that painted the sky at this time were beautiful, so Gon usually took that opportunity to leave the window open to experience it. In this moment, it was almost even more gorgeous. Gon looked at Killua's face, his eyes were closed. The dim yellow light rested upon his pale face, he looked at peace. He was beautiful to Gon as well.
Had Killua fallen asleep? Gon didn't care, he didn't want to take the chance of figuring it out and waking him either, so instead, he slowly laid back.
Once he managed to lay them back down on the bed he closed his eyes as well, he forgot about the pain in his hand and body by now, and carefully turned his body around to lay stomach-side on Killua. Of course Killua was awake by now, but he didn't want to ruin the moment.
Gon rested his cheek on Killua's chest, he was warm. Of course he was, everything else was as well.
Gon closed his eyes. Slowly drifting off..
Killua's arms grip around him tightened as he managed to start to doze off as well. The wind gently blew, medical supplies on the table causing small shadows to hit the floor from the suns light. It was quiet. And they didn't want anything else but this moment right now.
"I love you." Killua muttered, knowing Gon had finally fallen asleep. ✨
