The Egyptian Mythos.

Gods, Goddesses, and people centuries ago trying to find meaning in everyday life. Gods were created to explain various phenomenons that the people themselves could not quite understand.

That was quite a subject, really. You'd always been interested in it, ever since you'd gone to a museum when you were in Elementary School and had gone through the museum's exhibit on Egyptian relics. Heck, you'd even been given enough money to get yourself something from the gift shop. That Anubis plush was still on your desk.. A bit worse-for-wear, but still in your possession.

It'd been two decades since you'd first gone to the local museum and become fascinated with Egyptian mythology, though your interest as a child had shaped you as an adult. You were in college, taking various courses to earn a degree, though you did the best in your history course.

Yes, it was on a subject you knew to heart, but what did that matter? The better you did in college, the easier things seemed to go in-life. Your interests had even netted you a very nice job as a tour guide and basic staff member at that same museum that had sparked your interests all those years ago! It paid well-enough, so you never really struggled for money, though balancing your education and your career did prove rather mentally taxing.

Another mentally taxing thing was your assignments, each seeming larger and more stressful than the last. Every month was becoming harder to get through, and it was really, really taking a toll on you mentally and physically.

You sort of wondered if a degree was worth it at this rate. There was this one sofa in the college's library known for people having breakdowns in it, and you'd visited that sofa many a time to have a nice cry into its soft, plush exterior. However, this was a time you couldn't even afford that break.

Due to some poor planning on your part, you found yourself very, very behind on your history assignments. You'd had to beg your professor to give you another chance, and he'd given you an opportunity. You were one of his best students, so he went easy on you this time. If you could turn in your missing assignments, you'd get partial credit.

However, if you did a special optional assignment, you'd get a boost to that credit as if you'd gotten full-credit in the first place. This assignment was simple. A five-page essay about one Egyptian God. You'd have to talk about their possible origins, their place in Egyptian society, their connection to other Gods and Goddesses of the Egyptian Pantheon, and anything else you could add in whilst still keeping it coherent.

You were anxious about this, researching your options.. You'd been going through every book you had on Egypt and its Gods and Goddesses, before one of the books fell off the stack, landing right next to the Anubis plush on your desk.

That's when inspiration hit you. You had a month to get that essay in. Plenty of time to research your chosen God.

The essay to save your grade would be about the God of Embalming and the Afterlife, Anubis..
