"all I ever hear him talk about is stars, Like get a fucking girlfriend." I groaned a few seats away from corbyn and my remark earned a few chuckles and giggles from around the class.
"Maybe if you stopped focusing so much on what I'm doing you could learn how to match your shirt with your pants. Everyone learned denim doesn't go with denim in 2012 daniel, catch up." Corbyn remarked with a snicker and once again the people in class were laughing .I shrunk back into my chair and rolled my eyes, I didn't hate corbyn besson but being assigned to a seat so close to him was agonizing torture. I felt post trauma everytime I heard a word about a Star ever since corbyn entered the class, and this wasn't even astronomy this was English. Corbyn almost never shut up about space and found a way to bring it up in almost every class discussion, and while most girls found his nerdy ways to be appealing I physically gagged.
The fact that our seats where next to eachother was the universes punishment for me littering.
"Down for second lunch after school?" My friend Jack asked with a smile on his thin lips. Jonah grimaced shaking his head, if jonah wouldn't even eat lunch there was no doubt he wasn't going for seconds. Jonah marais was a tall thin brunette who was always 'Sick' or so he claims. Today he had just a bad stomach but that was nothing compared to the other days such as fevers, flu, some sort of virus or plain nausea. Jonah was always out of it even on his good days.
The bell ring and me and my two friends stood up and conversed about the afternoon plans and how to get jonah to stop faking his sickeness to which he protested. We ended up at the family owned bakery that jack worked over the weekends 'Avery's bakery'.jack played with a strand of his hair between his thumbs as the three of us settled at a table by the window. I was lucky that the Avery's decided to give me a job here starting next weekend because I was low on money.
the bakery was small and in the middle of a shopping center, not many people came in and most of the catering was from online order. There was no need to come inside the bakery nowadays. But if people stopped to see the bakery was actually something exquisite, something foreseen in a movie. A place a beauty that only a cinematographer would dare to dream of Filming inside of. The light that dances perfectly against the surfaces of everything it touched and the perfect presentation.
Not to mention the beautiful wooden chairs that matched the walls and counters of the shop really brought the entire shop to life.as the three of us talked the day away and listened in on Jonah's constant complaining the sun went down and our appetites became smaller. "Let's hit the 'moon' before we go home, I'll get ice cream and I can meet you two there." Jack said bringing up the idea.
At the park there was a trail that led up to a cliff that was nice and clear. No one but us knew about the old abandoned path so we often left things up there like a radio and a satchel filled with our favorite foods. We all liked to talk up there and sometimes we would get drunk alone up there. It was our special place and it meant a lot to us as friends.
The 'moon' wasn't any random name for our spot though. At the top of the hill there was a painting against the tall stone wall that had been there a year after we discovered it. It was a moon among a purple sky and an abandoned city underneath.
For some reason the painting had always made my breath slip away and I wasn't alone. Jack,Jonah and I all loved the painting and that's why our hangout spot was named
'moon.'
I envied the artist and looked up to them, their single art work never meant to be found touched my heart.
"I want to go with him and make sure he gets the correct ice cream, so we will meet you there bud." Jonah said running to catch up with jack to his car. I didn't mind because I loved car rides alone
My music and I really bonded on times like these and Jonah and jack were well aware of that.
the sun was completely gone and the moon was bright and full tonight while I walked up the trail alone. I held my blanket in my hand and felt excited the closer I got to the 'moon.'
When I had made it up the long exhausting hill I rested at the wall and looked at the painting I liked so much. It was fading slowly but I was glad I was able to witness it in the first place.I gazed around looking at the green grass being pushed gently by the wind and smiled to myself. I breathed in the fresh air and looked around before suddenly chocking. My eyes met with someone and I wasn't expecting to see anyone up here.
I didn't even know that anyone else came up here"Corbyn?"
The blonde boy turned away from his telescope and his blue eyes went wide. "Oh great, I knew someone invaded my spot. Corbyn muttered before looking back at the sky and scribbling something into his little notebook he had in his hand. He sighed aloud and continued his work. I stepped towards the thin boy and peaked my head over his shoulder to see his notebook.
Lots of words and scribbles circled his notepad and a small drawing in the corner. I watched the bracelet bounce as he wrote in his notebook, it was a bracelet of the planets and a single star attached to it I almost grimanced at how incredibly obsessed he was. "Nosey." Corbyn said suddenly catching me off guard.
"Im not nosey! Plus you're in my hangout spot." I argued and watched corbyns eyes averted and look at me. In that time I took the time to look at corbyns features
I never looked at corbyn but I found my eyes glued to him tonight. He was taller than I was and his hair was obviously dyed blonde. Though he dressed modern wearing a jean jacket with a black hoodie underneath and black skinny jeans his blue jean jacket was now unbuttoned unlike at class earlier and it had a cheesy picture of Einstein with a dinosaur.
Maybe corbyn tried to hide it but corbyn was definitely a bigger nerd than he let off to be.
"Why does a moon rock taste better than an Earth rock?" Corbyn asked suddenly and I looked at him confused. "It's a little meteor!" He finished laughing with himself, then I realized he was trying to be friendly.
I giggled a bit and noticed he started starring at me. Self conscious I covered my mouth knowing he was starring at the gap in my front two teeth. Instead of commenting corbyn gave me a shy smile.
"This is my hangout spot by the way seavey." Corbyn commented looking back at the sky and then back to his notes. "It is not!" I said protesting. He couldn't just claim the spot jonah, jack and I have bonded at for years.
'The nerve this fucking nerd has!' I screamed in my head. "You can't take it I've been here for years you have no proof!" I complained.
Corbyn pointed at the painting on the wall and spoke. "That moon over there, that's my tag. I was here first."
"I painted the ' Moon' ."
