"y-you made that?"I found myself stumbling over my words and I felt a lot of things now swimming through my mind. "Mhm." He hummed not really paying me any mind. I was in a state of shock and disbelief
The anonymous artist I had looked up to for years was standing in front of me, not only that but the artist was corbyn besson. The guy I had constantly made fun of behind his back throughout middle school and highschool. I always thought he was a dork in a modern teens body looking at the way he always dressed.
Corbyn has been the anonymous person I had only dreamed of meeting and now he was here in front of me just like I had imagined.
The once 'forever mystery' was now solved."I've always looked up to you. That painting has always meant something to me, like deep inside." I admitted playing with my thumbs and looking at the grass beneath my feet. "Oh." Was all corbyn replied before sitting down in the grass.
He patted the spot beside him and I sat beside him and I hesitantly sat beside him. He scooted closer next to me our shoulders now touching. He flipped through his notebook and showed me a painting that was painted over the blue lines in the notebooks pages. "This is my favorite star, the North Star, otherwise known as Polaris ." He said as he ran his frail fingers against the dried paint. "I know it's cheesy but I like the story of a star leading you home. It's not the brightest star but it was the first star I ever heard of." He smiled shyly at his paper running his thumb over the constellations that held meaning for the boy.
I didnt really care about the stars but I felt inclined to countinue listening. Corbyn spoke a lot about his favorite parts of the solar system and his extraterrestrial fear of black holes and what they would mean for him when he's in space. He continued on about his conspiracy theories on what's actually going on inside the black holes and they weren't very interesting. He explained they were just space's trash cans.
With a mind as big as his I would've assumed he had a better theory for something like a black hole. That night Corbyn continued to surprise me.
"You're surprisingly a good listener considering your grade in English class." Corbyn snorted with a smirk on his face. I rolled my eyes instantly and my cheeks burned from embarrassment, he must've seen my test grades. I looked at my phone and realized we had been here for three hours and there was still no sight of Jonah or jack.
I looked at my unread messages
Jack: jonah is complaining about some stomach virus so I took him home :// anyways see ya in the morning!delivered 8:44 pm
I sighed aloud at the message but corbyn payed no mind. "My friends ditched me." I explained and corbyn chuckled finally putting away his note book. "That's why I keep my friend group small, less room for disappointment." He said and I smiled sadly. "Or maybe because you talk too much no one likes that." I chuckled and instantly regretted my remark. Corbyns face was bright red and his lips in a flat line clearly embarrassed. He stood up grabbing the telescope and began to pack it into his duffel bag that sat on the floor.
I realized Corbyn was beginning to leave but I didn't want the conversation to end so soon. I knew once he left everything would go back to normal. Two almost strangers in English throwing snarky side comments from across the classroom again.
"Goodnight Stranger." Corbyn said throwing the bag over his shoulder winking.
