"Nate, I'm leaving you with the Pip-Boy. In case I don't make it back," Lyle said handing him the device while showing him how to use it.
Grabbing Lyle by the shoulder Nate spun him around to face him, "I just remembered that the NCR is coming. We can just meet up with them and let this go."
"Ok look, if I don't make it back anytime soon just run for it. Run as fast as you can and reach the NCR," tossing Nate a grin and lifting up his rifle he walked into the cave.
"Lyle, that gun's broken!" Nate shouted.
"I, know," was Lyle's only response...
Thirty minutes after Lyle had taken those fateful steps into the vault Nate was already on the edge of insanity. He knew his brother was strong, but no one survived an encounter with the Deathclaws. Picking up a rock he tossed into the cave out of sheer boredom. Much to his surprise the cave answered back. However, not with a rock or human voice, but the blood curdling scream of a deathclaw. Frozen with fear Nate could only watch and wait as the tortured screams got louder and closer. Suddenly, as if reality had come back to him Nate ran, just like Lyle had told him too...
THIRTY MINUTES EARLIER
Cautiously Lyle picked his way among the rocks and ventured deeper into the cave. To his astonishment he didn't find any deathclaws down there. Not any living ones at least. Among the lifeless bodies of the deathclaws were other bodies, human bodies. These human bodies all wore the same blue and yellow jumpsuit as well as the lifeless expressions on their faces. Suddenly, a strong gust of wind buffeted him causing him to glance upwards. "Gotcha," he murmured, because, in front of him, was a giant steel wheel with the numbers 37 painted on it. Turning around to fetch Nate he had one last thought before the world went dark, "I wonder what happened here."
