"...No."

"What do you mean no?!"

"I mean you can't have Yukimura as your surname if it's your moms maiden name!"

"Aoihi."

"NO."

The man groaned, while Aino sighed. She stared at the forms in front of her, glancing at the quirk and family documents. She glanced at him, tapping the file on the table to get his attention. He glared at her.

"We'll finish choosing the name later, right now I need to know your quirk."

Touya stared wearily at her. His hand unconsciously trailed to the scars on his arm. Aino glanced as his arm, before sighing and staring somewhere behind him. "... If it's fire related I can mark you as quirkless. Or just write down some kind of bullshit fire quirk."

Touya blinked at her. She picked up the pencil and stared patiently at him. He sighed, slowly describing a quirk similar, but not exactly like his. "...Incineration. It can burn objects... non-living things."

Aino nodded at him, beginning to write down a definition that could pass as a doctors observations. The man took this time to look around the room, taking in his environment. It was quiet, and was oddly empty. The small kitchen, and the small low table. But of course, it was all well taken care of.

He glanced at the living room, flinching when he noticed the dull television light on in the completely dark room.

"...why is the tv on?" Aino peaked behind her, chuckling lightly at the scene.

"Toga must be home. She's the one who came in last week-- she's really nice." She smiled fondly, as if she'd known the girl for years when it's only been a week. She shook her head and went back to filling out the documents. Touya tapped the table, staring at the living room.

"... why does she live here?" Aino paused for a moment, her eyes flicking towards Touya.

"... well for one she's 15, and they don't typically sell houses to 15 year olds," He could ask how she was living on her own later. "And two... she chose a certain surname."

Aino chuckled, "She's been like family to me ever since." Touya gazed at her, tapping his arm. He watched her eyes linger in the living room for only a moment, before she was back to writing. "Why... why'd you decide to help? People like us?"

Aino observed him for a moment, taking time to organize her thoughts. "...Not all people are blessed, I guess."

"Not all people are lucky enough to have a non-threatening quirk, or a pretty one. Not all people have a non-threatening or beautiful appearance. Not all people have an average or supportive family." Aino whispered, her voice barely being heard over the sound of her pen.

"They don't get an equal chance at life. They get bullied, mocked, beaten down, questioned, some people are pushed around or forced to relive some of their worst memories because some officers are never taught how to handle delicate situations."

"Some people are manipulative people, powerful people, and it's hard to even put a dent in their behavior or attitude, some people are so toxic that they refuse to realize what there doing is disgusting and immoral."

"Some people, have been born in the worst situation and can't get out of it because someone in there life makes too big of an impact, or too little. Some people are born on the streets, and have had to live there because heroes and officers they've met have never cared enough to help."

"Some people are afraid to say anything. Some people have too quiet of a voice or say in their lives, The justice system is rigged so only those at the top can benefit, it's an illogical system. The justice system only knows how to manhandle cases they get, hurting people rather than helping, not everyone's lucky."

Her pen snapped. Aino blinked out of her spiel, watching the black ink slowly make its way down her arm. She hadn't noticed how loud she got, she'd been yelling, hadn't she? She glanced at Touya, who's eyes were blown wide, her eyes flicking to living room, where Toga now sat upright, gazing at her in concern. She sighed, "I-I guess not everyone's born equal. And I don't r-really like that."

She winced when she heard herself stutter, she hadn't stuttered in how many years? She shook her head. "I-I'm gonna go wash my arm. Can't fuck up the documents."

She shot up to her feet letting herself run to the bathroom before slamming the door behind her. She let herself slide down the tiled wall, trying to calm her rapid thoughts. 'You could've just said the justice system is dumb, idiot!'

She ran her fingers through her hair, the dye suddenly feeling more unbearable than it was a minute ago. She let out a dry laugh, watching the black ink drip down onto the white tiles. She hoped the hadn't picked up on her nitpicking, she didn't want to be too biased.

She quickly washed the ink off her arm, trying not to get more on the tiles in the process. She quietly opened the door, her footsteps silent as she made her way towards the dining room. She flinched when she noticed Toga sitting next to Touya, smiling a little too brightly.

"We filled out the file for you! The name one! Look, look!" Aino glanced wearily at the document, slowly picking up the page and reading through.

"Age, 25, Name, Touya Kuro..." Aino stared at the paper for a moment, heaving out an amused chuckle. She gazed at him, watching in amusement as he tapped the table anxiously.

"Hai, hai, you made this process a lot easier." Toga cheered in delight, practically launching herself at Aino, hugging her tightly. Touya watched in amusement, feeling the tension seep from his shoulders.

"Welcome to the family, Touya Kurosawa."
