I watched Heeyoung take Hyejoo into the dressing area, and make-up center.
I had been all calm and composed until now, I screamed out loud. Myungdae, and my Caterer both came running out in panic.
"Miss, are you okay?" Myungdae asked, his eyes shaking.
I was not okay, the girl I had been writing to this whole time was a criminal, an entire criminal. not a minor felony, an on-the-run criminal. This was overwhelming, I was totally overwhelmed. My head began to get hot, and I sat down.
"Not at all." I responded and then I looked up at Myungdae, "Hey, can you get me some water?" I asked, and quickly ran towards the kitchen.
I looked up at my caterer, Minjun, "I have Olivia Hye in my house."
His eyes opened wide, "What?"
"It's such a long story, but I really do not know what to do. Can you please cook her a nice meal."
"Why are you harboring her?" He said, his voice hoarse and eyes squinted.
I didn't see the point in lying about it anymore, eventually I would have to leave this place. None of my employees could keep a secret.
"Well those letters I've been writing go to her, and she's my best friend. I can't just leave her. I care about her."
Minjun seemed to understand, "She's not vegan or anything? Any allergies?"
I shook my head in relief, "No, only pears."
I recalled the one letter where Hyejoo had mentioned her fear of pears, and all the other things she was afraid of. The dark, aliens, forests, and dying. I had really written her five hundred and fifty four letters, it was kind of mind-blowing when you think about it.
Minjun nodded, and headed off to the kitchen. In the very moment Myungdae speedily ran up to me to give me the water.
"So about the girl with Heeyoung.." He began.
"She is Hyejoo." I said toneless.
"What?" He responded, like he was surprised. I knew he already knew it was the truth he just didn't want to believe it. I expected him to ask me more questions, but he was just quiet.
My eyes were fixated on his head, because he was looking down after all. I just stared at him, and the silence made it somewhat awkward.
The silence was quickly interrupted by Heeyoung, and Hyejoo coming out of the workshops.
I glanced at Hyejoo, before turning back to face Myungdae, before doing a full 240 to stare at her again.
She was way prettier than I had at first thought. Her hair was the darkest color in the prime, her eyes matched. Her dark eye makeup complimented her red lipstick. I was in awe. She was total girl crush.
It didn't even feel like we had known each other for 5 years, she felt like a complete stranger. Well- I won't say that, because I knew I had an underlying problem. I couldn't just leave her. No matter how risky it was. She was still my best friend, and what type of friend would leave her to death.
"What was the point in this." Hyejoo said, she stood awkwardly, she wasn't used to makeup or any of the stuff.
I was still in awe by her beauty, "I don't know." I said toneless, my eyes still looking her up and down.
"I've got to go." Hyejoo said, then she turned around as if she was going to leave.
"NO!" I quaked, and she immediately turned around.
"Let me help you."
I examined her face, and she looked puzzled. I was kind of sad that she held so much doubt in me, did I look that weak?
"How can you help me?" She said, her arms crossed. I looked at Heeyoung. Nothing seemed to phase her not even a four star criminal.
"I have money, I have resources we can get out of town, we can go to America." I said, I wanted her to believe that I wasn't weak. That I could help her the way she helped me, and my mental. It was risky, but imagine it. Hyejoo wouldn't have to starve, or anything.
"Chaewon." She said, her voice deep but still warm.
I looked at her in concern, eager for answer.
"Thank you for your offer, but I will have to reject it."
I stayed quiet, and put my head down trying to mask my sadness was hard, but it was something I had already mastered. I lifted my head up, and before I could ask why, she answered.
"I refuse to put your life in danger." She walked closer to me, and smiled slightly. "Here." She took my hand and slipped something in it, before walking away, and out of the house.
I looked into my hand- it was a piece of paper. I assumed it'd be a letter or something but it wasn't, it was just two words written on it.
my room
I squinted my eyes at the letter, what did that even mean. I had to see her, I had to ask her what this meant. I couldn't keep up with all the subliminal messages anymore. I quickly darted out the room, and into the rain. Desperate to find Hyejoo, but she seemed to disappear so fast. I walked down the steps, and continued to run through the rain- my hair sticking onto my face, and my outfit beginning to unbearable to be in. I continued to run, despite Minjun and Myungdae's yelling. I muted everything, and my shoes splashed through the rain.
I could barely see her figure, but somehow I just knew it was Hyejoo. I yelled out to her, and I saw some headlights- at least that's what I thought it was, It was hard to move out of the way in the rain. The lights blurred my vision and shortly after they illuminated. brighter, and brighter, and brighter till it became the brightest.
