My four-legged monster

6 1 1

My head spins,
My heart speeds
Until my breath is short
And my lungs burn
My mind spills
My eyes blinded,
All is too quick
All is too cold
All I know is darkness
As I watch it unfold:
My sadness
My despair
My battered feelings
One by one executed
My hands are numb and

My throat is sore
From crying too much
Or perhaps,
For dying more.
It is a raging storm
And a sorry mess
I am the form
Of unexplained loneliness.

The door creaked open,
A ray of light shone.
A four-legged monster
As broken as I.
Fur ball by my side,
As I laid as I cried.
He loved, purred,
Licked and hugged
While I poured out my secrets
To my four-legged monster.

He'd heal my broken heart,
He would weep if I left.
My four-legged monster is the very best,
For I smile when he is by my side.
