A day passed, and Alex was sitting in History class. Class had not started yet, so students were clamoring with one another. He looked like he was deep in thought. Jack's words from tryouts echoed in his mind.

"Don't think for a second that you can help in battle with such chaotic power!"

Alex frowned as he replayed that sentence over again. As he sighed, he felt someone tap on his head. It was Stevie, one of Alex's best friends. He was turned around in his desk, and looked at Alex with sympathetic eyes.

"What's on your mind?"

Alex looked up at Stevie and gave him an easy smile. He sighed and told Stevie about Lightning Majors tryouts and about what Jack said about his powers. Stevie tilted his head to the side, as if he was thinking about what Alex was saying.

Stevie patted Alex's head and gave him a reassuring smile.

"I personally believe you made the cut. I mean, you've been practicing for this and you're pretty much one of the strongest people I know."

"One of?"

"Yes, one of." As he said that, he pointed at Alex and winked at him. Alex gave Stevie a bold smile and as he was about to speak, the teacher, Mrs. Kaid walked through the door. She gave the students upcoming announcements, and begun to pass out class work. Alex couldn't sit still, he was thinking about who made the Lightning Majors team. Jack gave him a bad score, but his technique was better than everyone else's. He still had a chance, right?

He was practically tuning Mrs. Kaid and what she was saying. He could care less about anything having to do with History class. He just couldn't focus on anything, but the words Jack told him. He was still shocked about the results. He was also nervous about the them, he didn't know what he'd do if he didn't make the team. It was a dream of his to be a part of the Lightning Majors, fighting for what's right just like his dad did before him.

Alex smiled and took some papers from Stevie. Class went on, and Alex stared at his papers intently. His History packet consists of various history questions that needed to be corrected. Alex had no time for that.

An hour of class passed by, and the bell rang. Students jumped up quickly while gathering their belongings. Alex crammed his History packet in his backpack, and was ready to leave class. He felt his heart skip a beat when he overheard a student mention the Lightning Majors tryouts results. Part of him wanted to check to see if he made it, but a part of him felt scared.

He was heading out the door when he felt a tap on his shoulder. It was Stevie. He smiled at Alex and told him good luck with his thumbs up. Alex gave him a wave and headed down the hallway. He had enough time to check the results before his next class. His legs felt sluggish, his mind chaotic.

"I'm going to quickly check the results and bounce, no matter if I made it or not."

Alex passed and bumped by many students. He walked up to a bulletin board that displayed many papers that were tacked to a blue background. Alex's eyes darted left to right to find the Lightning Majors results. There were many students standing around the bulletin board. Alex had to get by some students in order to see the board. Alex was finally in front of the board and he was overwhelmed by all the different papers.

"Cheerleading Squad results, Culinary Team results, dang where is it?!"

"Excuse me!"

Alex was too busy looking that he didn't notice that McKayla was standing in the crowd. She pushed past some some students and tapped Alex on the shoulder. He didn't respond, so she tapped harder.

"Hey!"

Alex turned around and when he saw McKayla, he rolled his eyes. She puffed her cheeks and rolled her eyes back.

"S-So, did you make the cut?"

"I'm still looking for the damn paper!"

"I personally doubt you made it, but good effort I guess."

"You really like to knock someone down, Miss 4/10!"

McKayla gasped loudly and frowned at Alex. They both continued to look for the Lightning Majors results. A student behind them gasped loudly.

"What, I didn't make it?!" How?!" yelled a random student.

Alex looked behind him quickly, "Wait, are you talking about the Lightning Majors results? Where is it?!"

The student rolled his eyes and pointed to a piece of paper near the corner of the bulletin board and walked away.

"Huh, rude much."

Alex looked at the paper the student pointed to. He gulped and tried to prepare himself for the inevitable. He looked at the list of names, they were in alphabetical order by last name. McKayla looked as well and her face turned white and she took a few steps back. She found her name on the paper and it didn't seem real to her. Alex looked at her and smiled.

"See you made it!" Nothing to worry about!"

Her expression still looked the same, and Alex went back to the paper. As his eyes scrolled down his hopes started to sink. His eyes stopped at the L's. He saw a couple of names that were familiar to him. He was about to walk off until something caught his eye.

Lopez, Alexander

He looked closely at the paper to make sure he wasn't seeing things. His heart dropped and he started to shake. The bell rung and the students around him started to disperse and walk to their next classes. Alex and McKayla were still in shock. They stared at the bulletin board, as they were in disbelief.

"Holy shit."

Holy shit is right."
