after a fun week with her friends, max and cyra were leaving. it was their winter break and they were going to visit their families.
"i'm going to miss you so much." cyra was full on crying, but it was to be expected, she was on her period.
"stop being a dramatic bitch, she'll be done filming in like a month." max said, rolling his eyes.
"be quiet max." cyra sniffled. everest rolled her eyes too, even though they argued, they were really close. they just pretended they hated each other.
"bye max." everest laughed, "take care of cyra."
max sighed, "i guess i could. or i could leave her when she gets black out drunk off white claws at frat parties."
"it only happened once, and i didn't get drunk just off of white claws." cyra defended herself.
"stop trying to justify yourself cyra."
everest gave them both another hug and waved them goodbye. she loved cyra and max, since josh left, they were the only real family she had. or at least considered family.

"wait josh you're birthday is in a few days!" everest remembered, "what are you doing?"
"uh not much. since i'm already going going home for christmas, i was going to just celebrate with my family. and olivia, matt, and sofia are coming to oceanside on my birthday." josh explained, "hey, what are you doing for christmas?"
"uh. last year i went to cyra's house, but both of them are gone visiting family. and not that i would want to spend christmas with my mom, but after i decided to do this movie instead of college, my mom made it clear that i wouldn't be welcomed back home." everest took a breath, she had said that all very fast. "so i'll probably just stay here."
"no!"
"what do you mean no?" she said slowly.
"you should spend christmas with me, and my family. when madelaine let's us go for the holidays, we can fly home together. and you can stay with my family instead of your mom."
"i don't know josh..." everest trailed off.
"please. you shouldn't have to spend christmas alone. and i want you in oceanside to celebrate my birthday."
everest was silent. a whole week with josh and his family seemed like a lot. but they were friends again, and maybe this would be good for the friendship. make things normal again. and it would be nice to have people to spend christmas with.
"please?" his eyes were pleading. she couldn't say no to those eyes.
