Together they lay in bed under the warm covers as the echoing sounds of Haven's record player played old love songs that created a sense of warmth and homey feeling in both their chests. The pillows scattered around them didn't offer the softness and the fulfillment they felt when in the other's arms. There was a difference.
They felt complete. As though the missing pieces from their hearts had finally mended with the love they felt and the care they had for one another.
Playing with Haven's hand, Coden felt content. He felt happy in the presence of the angel lying beside him, her head on his chest snuggling deep within him. He could hear the sounds of her soft breathing and she his heartbeat.
They were both marvelous sounds that brought and an odd sense of happiness and comfort to the two.
Closing his eyes he let himself sigh in contentment before suddenly realizing something.
"I have never taken you out on a date." Coden spoke out loud, more to himself.
He watched Haven lift her head up and give him a soft smile that had his heart wrenching. She was so beautiful.
"No, but do we really need one? We don't need to have something so conforming to define our relationship." She whispered softly.
Coden frowned. "What if I want to take you out?"
"But why?" She asked confused.
He tilted her chin so she was looking right at him. Even in her pink clad pajamas and her oversized t-shirt she looked beautiful. Her adorable red nose and the pile of hair upon her head added to that effect. Her brown eyes sparkled and he could see himself in them. He never thought his reflection could have looked as good as it did in her eyes.
"I want to show you off to everyone. Show them the gorgeous girl that I have." He said with such honesty. He wanted to bring Haven out on dinners. He wanted other men to feel jealous that he has such an amazing woman to love. He wanted to show her that she had no need to feel insecure. He wanted to show her that she had no reason to hide behind a curtain of hair and that she didn't need to look down. He wanted to show her how truly perfect she is.
As her cheeks heated up he couldn't help but love watching the blush rise to Haven's cheeks. It was almost as if the sun itself heated them up with a magnificent glow that brought so much light into his world.
He watched her bury her face into his shirt to which he laughed at.
"Don't hide your face from me when you blush love. It'll only give me more of a reason to do it again." He whispered mischievously.
She groaned into his chest before lifting her flaming face off his chest immediately leaving him feeling cold in that area. As cliché as it sounded she was his warmth.
"So Haven Montessori, will you go out on a date with me this Sunday evening?" He asked with so much hope in his eyes.
"Sorry." She responded her face blank of emotion.
Coden's face fell and he could feel his heart shattering once again until he heard the sound of her melodious laughter.
"Gosh Coden. Of course I will! I would be a fool to say no. I only did to see your reaction." She said giggling.
"Why you." He got on top of her straddling her waist and began tickling her ruthlessly.
"Coden - I'm - Sorry." She laughed hysterically. The sound of her laughter was his favorite sound in the world and he just wanted to hear it everyday for the rest of his life.
"That's right, you better be." He laughed with her as she attacked him with the nearest pillow. Before you knew it they were having the greatest pillow fight known to man. And those were the sounds that were heard in the confinements of Haven's apartment in the city that never sleeps. The sound of laughter and the hum of old love songs. To anyone that looked through the clear glass of Haven's window they would see a couple completely and utterly infatuated with the other. They would see love.
