Coden straightened his suit once again for the fifth time. He felt as though he was going to break out in a cold sweat. He was completely nervous.
What if she doesn't show up?
He loosened his tie a bit before downing a glass of water.
His eyes wandered around the indoor restaurant floating upon the ocean. People dressed in fancy suits and dresses holding large glasses of wine up to their lips while discussing events that hold no relevance to their lives, other than trying to prove to everyone around them how much more superior they are. It was actually quite funny to watch for Coden because half of the time they had no idea what they were speaking about, just conjuring up large words and stringing them along to create a philosophical way of saying the basic 'how are you?'
The warm glow of the lights strung up and the wafting smell of Italian cuisine mixed with expensive cologne engulfed his senses.
Closing his eyes with a sigh Coden imagined his girl. It sounded so right on his tongue, that Haven was his girl.
Letting his eyelids flutter open he saw her. In all her glory and gorgeousness.
Coden watched as Haven climbed onto the ferry. He immediately stood up as she caught his eye. A soft smile spread across her face and she looked around nervously tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.
Coden's breath hitched in his throat. It wasn't the sudden revelation of his attraction towards Haven but how beautiful she looked at the moment. Her dark brown - almost black - locks were done up so they were out of her face just like he liked it, showing off her pretty, glowing face. She was gorgeous and judging by the looks of the other men, they whole-heartedly agreed. He felt a sense of pride swell in his heart along with a smidge of irritation seeing the longing gazes of the other men upon the boat towards his gorgeous date.
If only she knew how beautiful she was.
As she walked towards him, he grinned a large grin and pulled her chair out for her, taking her coat from her as well. Her body was fitted with a strapless turquoise cocktail dress that had Coden's eyes widening a fraction.
"You look amazing." He breathed.
"You don't look so bad yourself mister." She teased with a playful smile that he so gladly returned.
The awkwardness of the atmosphere soon diminished after that and they continued to spend the night away laughing and telling each other about their days and whatever topic floated to their mind.
They were so comfortable around each other. Haven wasn't afraid to eat large amounts of food in front of him and he wasn't afraid to speak his mind with her.
They were like the missing puzzle pieces that finally found their way back together to form the main picture; the picture of infatuation, attraction, and romance.
As their night came to an end Coden dropped Haven off at her door.
"So, that was a success." Coden spoke after a moment of silence.
"Yes it was, but..."
"But what?" He asked frantically. He had planned this out so it would end up being the perfect first date. Where had he gone wrong?
All his self-questioning thoughts flew out the window when he felt her warm lips planted on his. And just as they appeared they were gone.
He looked at her with wide eyes as she blushed a deep scarlet against her porcelain skin.
"Um, so yeah. I guess I'll see you later." She said flustered as she tried to unlock her door.
As the door opened with a click Coden finally snapped out of his daze and tugged on Haven's wrist spinning her around.
"Wha - " Her question was cut off as Coden planted his lips firmly on hers. He felt her melt into him and held onto her waist to prevent her from falling. The sweet sound he heard her make as he lightly nipped her bottom lips was like music to his ears.
Finally coming up for air he bent his forehead until it was touching hers. "If you're going to kiss me you better do it right." He whispered as she tried to catch her breath.
Her cheeks flushed and her lips slightly swollen from the force of the kiss had given Haven a feeling of being on top of the world.
They were both on cloud 9 and couldn't have thought of a better way of ending their first date sharing their first kisses with one another.
It was perfect.
