Chapter 23 Festival, and Kai?

Asuka was discharged from the hospital, finally able to see Nejire and Amajiki. Who had drowned her in hugs and "Are you Okays?".

Mirio laughed at that, happy that she was being hugged and loved up by her best friends.

She still had to wear a cast on her last healing arm.

She got visits from her family, including a new and reformed Kai.

Having no idea how, but the girl who had brought her back pulled some strings and it's as if Kai never turned evil, and their mother was never there.

Eri clung to his pants as he smiled down at her.

He had Adopted Eri when his boss passed, taking the spot as a leader and being what his master taught him.

When he hugged her, she couldn't bring herself to let go, tears spilling as she snuggled into her brothers chest.

"What's gotten into you Asuka, did you really miss me that much when I left for college" he joked cheerfully.

She only let out a sob/laugh as she let him go to breathe.

Soon after the reunion, and hugging all her friends, they learned a festival was going to be taken place.

But Asuka was told to take it easy, by Aizawa and her Brother.

Her brother knowing alot about health, given he was Japan's world famous surgeon because of his quirk.

He owned a very nice house along the beach, and he enrolled Eri into a nice elementary school.

As he walked alongside her to see Class 1A, especially Deku. He walked patiently beside her.

She wondered how Deku would react to Kai, given he was about to beat him to a bloody pulp before. But the woman who again, saved them both had given him a good life to live.

The door slid open and Class 1A let out a chorus of joy as they ran to ask her questions, it turned out the whole endeavor with Overhaul, seemed to be a huge natural disaster with a collapsing building.

Kai hushed them and pulled out a chair for her to sit, she was still very weak from the whole thing.

"Mr Sakudo, will she be alright?" Deku asked.

Wait?, Sakudo.....oh he took their dad's last name instead of their mothers.

"Yes, just a bit weak from the overuse of her quirk. But nothing too serious" he said gently to the green haired boy, who let out a breath of relief.

"So, is everything well with the festival?" He asked the class.

"Yes, everything is going very smoothly but. Their is something we need to ask from you?" Iida asked with a bit of sadness.

Kai listened attentively as the class told him about their problem with class 1B and the others.

He thought for a moment scratching his head before coming to a conclusion.

"Listen, make the whole thing about trying to have Fun, don't look at it as showing off. I know that's not what your guys are going for. Don't worry about it and have fun" he implored as they seemed to value his advise.

Kai was so gentle with them, so caring and wise. Just like their father.

Sniffling could be heard and Kai turned to a crying Asuka.

"Why do you keep crying, I told you I'm staying here for good" he chuckled. Ruffling her hair.

The class let out laughs at her giving a watery smile to him before hugging him again.

Asuka walked into the school hallways with happiness as she held her boyfriends hand tightly, looking at all the pretty ribbons and decor on the walls and ceilings.

"Wow, this is really cool" she murmmered to Mirio who beamed with pride.

"I helped put up some of those" he confessed.

She looked to him with amazement, her wide blue eyes shining with excitement.

"I've never been to a festival" she admitted.

That only made Mirio smile even wider, pulling her close to whisper in her ear "well let's make this the BEST first festival ever" he grinned.

She nodded, pecking him on the cheek and tugging him forward as they raced to class.

The late bell dinging as they raced through the doorway.

"SAFE" Mirio cried out as if it were a ball game and they had made it to a base.

Midnight clapped her hands sarcastically before Pointing a pedicured finger to take a seat with the rest of the class.

After school, Asoka went to have a sleepover at Kai's with Eri.

Kai was trying to brush Eri's hair as she evaded him with a giggle , him chasing her and picking her up to tickle her.

She laughed and squirmed until he gentle dropped her into the couch.

"Eri, I have to brush your hair, otherwise it will get tangled and nappy" Kai tried to sound more strict but his tone melted when she hugged his legs.

"DAD, no!" She complained as he finally got a hold of her and began brushing her curly locks.

Asuka just laid on the comfy couch, watching with a warm smile as Kai mothered the poor thing.

Asking her if she finished her homework and brushed her teeth.

She nodded and rolled her eyes before Kai released her and sighed, shaking his head as she jumped onto the couch to cuddle with Asuka.

"Eri, what movie would you like to watch?" Kai asked.

"Lion King!" She exclaimed with joy as he clicked on Disney plus and pulled it up, pressing play and turning the lights off.

He came over to kiss Eri on the head, patting Asuka' s head and sauntered off to his room to shower and go to bed.

Asuka smiled as the soft sounds of Eri's snores could be heard.

She pulled Eri tighter and smiled, Happy that her brother had gotten a second chance in life instead of being condemned like their mother.

But Asuka still felt a tinge if unhappiness at the thought of their mother, the crushed look she had when Kai had grabbed Asuka.

Even though she was a bad person, a horrible mother.

That didn't mean she couldn't learn to love.

But this was her fate, and she had to abide by the rules that god had made.

Asuka promised herself she would never let anyone she loved turn into something like that ever again.
