Within the next couple of days Big Susie and Chickadee we're out in the pasture hanging out with the other cows. I was in the horse barn working with Brighton, my Percheron gelding, who decided he was going to be stubborn. I saddled him up slowly but surely and got on him. He was doing good at that part. I started to make him trot until Zayn walked in and scared him making Brighton want to buck and almost knock me off. Zayn started laughing really hard. "Is it funny? Because is he knocks me off and I break something guess who's taking me to the hospital" I said seriously while gripping his reigns. I hopped down and took his bridle off letting his mouth relax. "There you go boy". I slowly took the saddle of him and put him up. I walked him out to the pasture "Don't go to far boy, Aaliyahs gonna be here soon to check up on y'all" I said smacking his butt. "Why do you always talk to them like they're gonna talk back?" Zayn asked sarcastically while dumping a bag of goat feed in a tote. I scoffed and shut the gate "YOU out of all people wouldn't understand" I said picking up a water filled bucket and placed it in a stall. "You know you sound crazy right" he said closing the lid on the tote. "You know I don't care right" I trudged out of the barn and went to check the chickens. He's so inconsiderate, he doesn't understand. I thought peacefully feeding the chickens and ducks. As soon as I turned I heard the sound of a truck against gravel coming up. I smiled as the truck got closer and waved it down. "Hey Aaliyah, where do you wanna get started?" I asked as she pulled in the driveway and parked. "Um I guess I'll start with horses then work my way" she smiled fixing her gloves. She snapped them and looked at me still with a big grin on her face "Who's first?". I motioned for her to follow me "It doesn't matter for me, but Viva, our stallion is right here if you want" I stated and pointed to a stall. "Alright" Aaliyah said fixing her gloves and went into the stall. She checked his mouth and teeth first. "Well his mouth is pretty good. Although I recommend a peppermint stick, soon" she giggled while petting him. She moved on to his bone structure.
Zayn walked in and looked at her. "Hello Dr. Moss, may I uh take her away for a minute?" He asked with unreadable look in his face. "Sure"Aaliyah said feeling Viva's stomach. Zayn looked at me and nodded. We walked out towards the goat pen. "Um, I don't know how to explain this."he started rubbing the back of his neck slowly "But I just found out my car got repo-ed and. .that's where I was living..so I have to move in with my parents." He continued. I nodded confused "And what does that have to do with anything...? Your parents can drive you I guess... Or I could pick you up". "Well you see," he started "They live over 3 hours away." He looked down. He almost looked upset. Then it hit me. "So you're trying to tell me you're quitting?" I said slowly. All he did was nod.
He wasn't looking me in the eyes, he stared at the ground. I drew in a long sigh. "No." I simply stated. He looked up confused "What?" He squinted his eyes. "No. You can't leave. "I stated again. "Well I have to, I have no choice." He started up. "Well no matter how aggravating you are, i have an extra room. You can stay there, you're keep is helping on the farm. I can't afford to lose my only co-worker" I said crossing my arms. He shook his head "I can't do that. I don't want to be a burden" . I scoffed "You already are. Since when do you care. We''ll go get some of your stuff later. Get back to work". I walk back to Aaliyah. "Viva is good, I went ahead and checked the other, and they need mints. Also, " She said her entire demeanor changing.

I dom't want to tell her this, but Titan is very old. He doesn't seem like he has much time left. "Titan, he's getting slower Kylie, he doesn't have much time left. He's less energetic then the others he's becoming more lethargic" I stopped when I saw her tear fall. I couldn't help it. I hugged her tightly. Titan was her very first horse from her father and she's had him since she was only 4. She didn't really do much with him until she got older. I taught her how to train and what to do. "I'm so sorry Kylie." I said into her shoulder. Her sobs were the only thing to answer. "Well I guess on a happier note, I guess I should tell you what I found out yesterday."I said hoping to make her happy.
"What?" She mumbled into my shoulder. "Well first off I need to buy diapers and find wipes and figure out a name"I stopped clicking tongue. Her tears stopped and she pulled away. Her puffy eyes and red cheeks stared at me confusdely. "You're pregnant?" She said unsure. I nodded smiling "you're the only person who knows. Besides me." A big grin spread across her face as she pulled me into another hug "Congratulations! " She exclaimed. "But now I feel even more like a loner." She said. "What do you mean? " I asked remembering to close the gate to the pasture. "You're starting a family, while I on the other hand am still looking."She replied her shoulders drooping. "Oh my, Kylie there's somebody out there. And they're closer than you think. "I smiled.
