Terza Rima: A Captain's End

Here my ship has run aground

My crew is dead

Not a soul around

Soon I shall lose my head

Oh, what an atrocity

Who will lead in my stead?

This is a catastrophe

The Andromeda doomed

And here, I too, will die of atrophy

The end is here; here it looms

Like the calm before the storm

And here I sit upon my bow just before the noon

I'll ask that you not mourn

No one will know I'm gone

I have not even a wife to be distraught much less forlorn

And as I see the dawn

As it crashes over me

Towards it I become drawn

To rest in blissful eternity
