December 25th
Albert woke up in the morning to the sun shining through the blinds. He limply lifted himself up with his elbows. After rubbing his palms into his eyes, he felt he could see better. He looked around the room, as if he's never seen it before. But then again, he was still a little sleepy.
Albert got startled by a knock on the door.
"Albert? Can I talk to you?" Jake poked his head into the room.
Albert was awake.
He sat up. "What, man?"
Jake sat at the edge of the bed. "I'm here to apologize."
Albert crossed his legs and rested his elbows on his knees. "Continue," he replied quietly as he tilted his head forward.
"Alex told me how I made you feel,"
Albert faked a betrayed look to hide the redness in his cheeks. But it was usually always there and Jake didn't notice. This made Albert extra special and amazing and beautiful to have a difference.
"I am so sorry. I'm am sorry for being rude to you. I should've kissed you. I love you."
Albert tried, and failed, to hide a smile.
"I'm sorry I made you so upset. The last thing I wanna do is make you cry."
Albert let out a guffaw of relief.
"I'm sorry for almost killing us," he added with a laugh.
Albert beamed.
"I hate that I made you feel guilty. I'm sorry."
Albert felt happiness.
"I'm so sorry. I thought you were jealous and you weren't. I was an idiot and I know you love me to the moon and back,"
"A million times and more," Albert murmured loud enough for Jake to hear.
Jake laughed.
"It's okay, I know I can be that way sometimes,"
They both chuckled.
Jake continued. "I'm so sorry for making you feel depressed. You mean more to me than anything, and I-I hate that I made you feel that way."
Albert's happiness was accompanied by a lump in his throat. "I-I-I'm sorry because when I was upset a couple days ago, it was because I felt bad for being annoyed at you,"
Jake detected the breaking in his voice. "It's okay," he said softly, "you didn't do anything."
"I'm sorry for not supporting you," Albert began to cry a little.
Jake moved over to him. He put an arm around him, pushed his head to his chest and rubbed his back. "You supported me. I messed up."
"I felt more and more guilty,"
"I'm sorry, Albert," Jake kissed his head. Albert cried for a few minutes. Jake just rubbed his back. When he began to calm, Jake whispered, "I love you unconditionally," and kissed him. Albert rested his head in his neck.
"I forgive you," Albert whispered.
Jake smiled and put his cheek on Albert's head.
Jake's phone went off.
He quickly pulled it from his pocket, still holding tight onto Albert. He accepted and put it to his ear. Jake's face became more and more excited. He said quietly, "Thank you, thank you, thank you!"
Albert looked up at Jake with a what-the-heck-dude look.
"Old habits die hard. I got accepted!"
Albert's look remained.
"I'll call you back," Jake spoke into the phone. He shut it off and put it down. He looked at a smiling Albert.
"I'm proud of you," Albert whispered.
"Thank you. Merry Christmas, babe. I love you,"
"Merry Christmas. I love you more,"
Albert felt like the world was lifted from his shoulders.
"I didn't mean to scare you the other day," Jake whispered.
"It's okay," Albert whispered back.
They both smiled and their lips met. Jake pushed Albert on the bed and kissed his neck. He ran his hand up Albert's shirt, which made Albert giggle.
He knew he'd love his Christmas present.
Getting accepted into college is probably not what people worry about in December. And don't fret, Jake called the college back. I hope you enjoyed.
