-NATE-

"Twenty years passed after the hero Perseus Jackson left the camp and lived a normal life with his wife and fellow hero, Annabeth Chase. Now the flame of Western Civilization is burning dimly and near extinguished. How could we help make the flame burn brightly again?"

"Believe." My brother and I said in unison.

Dad smiled at us, “That’s great, my brave heroes.”

“What happened next, Dad?” I asked.

“That’s the end of the story,” he said.

We protested as Dad helped us lay on our bed and then kissed our foreheads.

I could not sleep that night. I don’t know why but something is tingling inside me. Something waiting to be released. A force that when obstructed could kill me. Maybe this is a result of me having ADHD. I could not keep still, I could be pervasive sometimes. Only the sea makes me relaxed.

“Nate. You couldn’t sleep too?”

“Yeah. I wanted to go to the beach. Wanna come?”

“I’d rather go to the hill. It’s quiet and calm there.”

“Okay. I’ll meet you there.”

With that, we opened our window and left the room. I trudged to the direction of the salty ocean mist. Once my feet found the sands, I sat and rested my chin on my knees, and let the sea breeze calm me. The quivering inside me stoppedand I felt relieved at the same time, I felt a strong surge inside me to go back and see Sync, a feeling of protection over him.

After an hour, I stood up and made my way to the hill. I turned to see a big silhouette near the olive tree that Grandma gave Mom. I saw Sync standing at the top with his back to me, but then he tumbled back and ran to my direction His face screamed of danger. Sync hid himself behind me. I was too petrified to move. I noticed a shadow... a monster, perhaps?

“Leave my children alone.” Dad shouted at the creature in front of him and waving his sword. I’ve seen that sword once in my dream.

“Our children.” I heard Mom’s voice but I could not see her. She then materialized beside Dad holding a dagger, fiercely looking at the monster. Our parents looked like they were used to this kinds of scenario, fighting monsters and stuff.

“Nate. Is this true? I feel like dreaming.” Sync said from behind. I just stood still, unable to move because of the horror presented in front of us. Dad held his stare straight at the shadow.

“Who are you? Show yourself.” Mom demanded the monster.

“I obey one lord. I am the daughter of Chaos, wife of Erebus.” With that, the shadow changed into a more human form and it stepped out of the darkness, revealing a beautiful woman. She is beautiful in a dark way. Her dress seems very ancient and the color looks like the sky of a cloudless night. Her hair is jet black and seems like dancing in the wind while there is no breeze blowing it. Her face is very stern, showing strictness and authority but still elegant. She is very fair that it seems unnatural.

“Nyx?” Mom said, her face turning white, she almost drooped her dagger because of her trembling hand.

“I’ve come to do what the Lord wishes.” She waved her hand and both Mom and Dad were engulfed by dark shadows. Then they disappeared.

I woke up startled. It was all a dream. Dad looked at me and said “The End” and went to switch of the lights. A dark form appeared behind him and surrounded him before disappearing. For the second time, I woke up from a dream.
