-SYNC-

I’ve been telling Nate all that I know about his patron, Poseidon, but he’s just interested in practicing his powers. I gave up knowing that my facts will never reach his brain unless he wanted it to. So I just told him about Poseidon’s power over sea, controlling water and stuff, talking to marine animals and horses, summoning storms, earthquake and many more. He tagged me to come with him to the sea and meet Hailey, his sea nymph friend.

“Hailey, I’m back.” Nate shouted over the sea.

“Hey Nate. Why did you bring an Athena camper?” A girl with long wavy black hair and green shirt came walking to us.

“He is Sync. He is my twin.” Nate said smiling to her.

“Oh. Your patron must be Athena, your grandmother. You have the same gray eyes and cold stare. Annabeth Chase also radiates too much wisdom like you. That’s cool.” Hailey said. “Oh, Athena and Poseidon are longtime enemies.”

“I’ll take those as compliments. Can you begin teaching Nate his powers now? I’ll be watching.”

“Okay. So Nate, you need to make everything under your patron’s control under your control too. Poseidon’s power must be your power too, okay?” Nate nodded. “That includes sea water, so could you summon a ball of water from the sea to here?”

“I’ll try.” Nate closed his eyes and started concentrating.

“You should talk to the water using your mind, talk to them to obey your will.” Hailey encouraged.

After sometime, I could feel the sands beneath my shoes beginning to shake. I looked at Hailey but she seemed to be so captivated by what she was seeing.

“Nate, stop it. You’re already making an earthquake.” Nate opened his eyes and looked at me. He then looked at the sea and looked surprise.

“Holy gods of Hellenes. Now you summoned a tsunami.” I shouted.

“Hai… Now Hailey’s gone. What am I gonna do?” he said to me with eyes as big as dinner plates.

“Will it under your power. You’re patron is Poseidon, right?” I rolled my eyes to him.

He closed his eyes and focused. He is already shaking when I saw the wave became smaller and smaller, but it could still do a little damage to the camp. I started to run back to the edge of the beach when I felt the waves on the legs. I spun around and see Nate doused with water. Luckily, the water only reached the edge of the beach.

“What in Hades happened here?”  A centaur exclaimed.

“Are you Chiron?” I asked. He is the only half man, half horse in the camp according to my cabinmates.

“I am afraid that is me. Now tell me, what happened here?”

Nate looked at me asking for help. When all of the sudden a glowing, blue trident symbol with a bar above it appeared above his head. Everyone gasped at the scene, surprising Nate and looked behind him to see what we are gasping for. He looked back at us and when he noticed we were looking above him, he looked above and tripped at what he saw.

“What is that?” Nate asked terrified.

“What is his name young man?” Chiron bowed down to me and whispered.

“Dynatos Jackson, sir.” I answered still shocked.

“He is the son of Perseus Jackson and Annabeth Chase? And you are his brother?”

“Yes, I am Syneto Jackson. You know me?” I asked, but instead he stood straight up.

“All hail Dynatos Jackson, son of heroes Perseus Jackson and Annabeth Chase. Eklektos of Poseidon, god of the seas and lord of thunder.” His voice boomed. The campers exchanged confused glances.

“You’re from the Athena Cabin right? What is an eklektos?” A boy asked beside me.

“I dunno. But as far as I know, eklektos means chosen one in Greek.”

“He is the chosen one of Poseidon.” He shouted. Oh great, he had the credits of knowing what an eklektos means.

“Sorry. They needed to know.” He said when he noticed the annoyance in my face.

Okay. My brother is an eklektos. I looked back to him and noticed the symbol starting to loose light. Nate is still lying on the sand. He looked at me with his what-is-happening look. I just shrugged it off.

He started to stand when he tumbled again; he looked at me with the same wide eyes when he saw his symbol. I looked around and saw them looking at my head. I am guessing that I have the symbol of whoever chose me above my head. I looked up and saw a grey owl symbol with a bar on the top glowing, almost blinding my eyes. I cover my eyes with my hand and tried to look down. I can’t contain all those eyes looking at me, piercing my soul while this owl is above my head. Athena, choses me. My Grandma choses me.

“All hail Syneto Jackson, son of heroes Perseus Jackson and Annabeth Chase. Eklektos of Athena, goddess of wisdom and lady of owl.” Chiron voice reverberated through my soul.

Nate rushed to me and hugged me.

“Uh, Nate I can’t breathe. This is the first time you hugged me in seven years, six months, two weeks and half a day.” Where did I get those numbers? I don’t know too.

“We are eklektos, whatever that means.” He said.

“Eklektoi are either legacies or pure mortal who was chosen by an Olympian to be their version. You have all the powers that your patron have, only in a smaller scale. Power that can only be held together by your earthly form. Poseidon and Athena choses the two of you as their version, from the union of their kids, Jackson and Chase. You are not demigods so monsters could not detect you in far ranged places, but the can if they are very near you because of your lineage and being an eklektos.”

“Could we be affected by celestial bronze?”

“You wanted to try? Of course yes. Even though you are legacies, you could still be affected by any magical metals.” And with that he trotted away. The campers still have their eyes on me.

“Why didn’t you tell me that you are the son of my favorite loveteam here in camp?” Lyson, my cabinmate sqealed.

“You didn’t ask.” I told her.

“Oh bother. You two will be my friend now.” She said and turned to face the demigods still staring at us. “I think, the camp fire will be burning bright tonight.” And all the campers cheered.
