We were holding a meeting. Gran had called up women and men from other clans for their support. They didn't really want to help because of the present situation. It seemed like the whole of the UK knew about Ferka's arrest and what we were facing. Nana pushed me up to the centre of the circle.

" Um..."

Our new visitors were giving me dirty looks. "Well..thanks for coming. Um....I guess you know that we were to hold a protest along with the gorgas against pulling down the meadows...um ..but it's at a stand still now so ...I thought well Gran thought we could ...help."

There were disagreeing murmurs. Even Onas, Ian, Tas and Marko looked unsure.

" You guys backing out, now?", I asked.

Onas shrugged. " Things have changed. People will be ready to dispose of us by force. They'll throw all of us into jail if they have to."

"And our childeren will be put in care homes. They'll forget gorga tradition", said some one else.

"That's...not going to happen", I said. "No one's going to arrest us because...well they won't because we have enough reason to show that the herb Nana found will be endangered. That means that the meadows will be the last place where it can be found. No one can arrest us then."

"Do you know for sure?", askes somw one else.

"Yes...well it has to be proved."

"There you go!", shouted Old Ben.

I scratched my stubble angrilly.

"You all talk of tradition but what about your karma?", I asked. Every one turned silent. "Don't we have a duty to the earth?"

There were muffled talks of gorga girlfriends.

"I broke up with her", I said. "I'm doing this to help and because we're almost there."

"I'm with him!", shouted Dad. I stared. Dad came over and placed a hand over my shoulder.

"So am I", said Nana.

But no one really responded after that save the boys, Aunt Rhoda, Winsey and Uncle Pesha.
