The class started for dear Y/N as she was on her usual seating in the back. No one talked nor bothered to interact with her. For they see her only being the strange kid everyone would avoid and forget about. The outcast.

She sighed and moved her pen around, doodling in her notebook. A little creature with a skull-like head and a red cloak underneath its black figure. It was one of the NPC's seen in the game, Hornet.

"I wish I was like her. Brave, out-going and strong. I'd be just a weak and fragile vessel if I were in their world." she sighed, twirling the pen on her finger while looking at the doodle of Hornet she drew.

She envied Hornet for her qualities. If there's any comparison between them, Hornet outweighs her by a long-shot. Even training couldn't surpass her abilities. Then again, the possibilities are endless.

"Your homework is due by the end of Spring break, Monday. Please be sure to get them done and come to my office after school for further questions. Have a good day to you all students. " the teacher said and left the room.

Hmm...I wonder what I'll do during my break? Play Hollow Knight again? I guess I could start by earning up Geo's again in the Colosseum and focus on working my attacks more.

A few hours passed, it was Lunch time and everyone had their respective friends and groups except for Y/N. She always sits alone and distant to others. Barely making any social interactions other than the times where she only needed to. Such as group activities in the class or partnering up with someone for certain tasks.

It never bothered her that much though, she likes to be on her own mind and seclusion. Free to do whatever without the annoyance from another person. Especially Jake.

"Have you heard the stories about the people going missing a month ago?" a younger boy than her whispered to their friend.

"Yeah, they were captured by someone in a strange mask. I wonder if that was a creature or something." the other one replied

"Pfft- no way! It's cryptic and just fake stories! Probably some person trying to prank around the area again."

"But what if it is real?"

"Like I said, it's just a fake story. What? Are you scared?" he teased and the other person quickly denied.

A strange person in a mask huh? What are the chances it's a lost vessel or one of the NPC's in Hollow Knight? But I bet its not...unless...

Out of curiosity and newfound interest in finding the truth about this said rumor. She decided to head over the library. Searching through the shelves and sections that could relate to unknown beings and unfamiliar creatures.

"Hmmm...none of these books are what I'm looking for." she pondered while her eyes scanned around each one of them until one particular book catches her attention.

It was a very old book with a white vine-like design around it. Black hardcover and little gems decorated perfectly aligned. She reached up to get it and nearly dropping it on her face from how high it was placed.

She sat down on an empty table and set the book down. The front cover title was 'Secrets of the Unknown Civilization'. She flipped the pages over and read the details within the text...

------------------------------------------------

Long ago, before humans even gain knowledge and the ability to have their own society. Written in ancient caverns and rock tables discovered in different areas of the world. There are beings existed that were far more advanced and capable of creating powerful items none has ever seen. Among all creatures living on the depths of the earth. The Hollowed ones, as they are called.

Beings covered in forms of cloaks and white masks. Larger than humans for some in height. They possess alchemic powers and energies no mere human can handle. Various sentients expand to insect-like species that now seen as of today.

They also have their own kingdom, a society, and a way of ruling over others. Those who have higher abilities are considered as gods according to the ancient caverns seen in Egypt. Two of the highest existing entities above all are known as Void and Radiance.

The rest of the pages are torn off. That raises more questions for Y/N and her cloud of thoughts about this information. If they already exist back then, where are they now? Why aren't they at present? More questions flooded in their mind as every minute goes by.

Yet alas, no answer was found...not yet for them that is...
