Chapter Two
I walked inside of the room and already saw sitting on the bed fixing his outfit for tonight already making me feel the guilt inside. I didn't want to tell him, but I was damn sure expecting how he would react once telling him.
Hassan and I were highschool sweethearts who loved every inch of each other from the first day that we laid eyes on each other. We were inseparable and planned our lives down to the smallest detail. Eight years together and we had the future in our hands. We were a power couple, pushing each other from high school, undergraduate and graduate college, and I can honestly say that we have outdone ourselves and more.
"So..." I broke the silence sitting on the bed as he looked at me and groaned.
"You're cancelling dinner between us for dinner with your sisters? Come on Ju," Hassan complained and I looked away, playing with his dress shirt that was already pressed and ready.
I stood up and went into my closet rummaging through the racks of clothes finally settling with a pink halter dress as I laid it on the bed and stripped out of my jeans and tank top.
"It's our first dinner together in five years with Serenity, it's the least I can do Haasan," I argued slipping into my dress.
"So why did it take you almost till an hour before our dinner reservation to tell me?" He countered, and I looked up at him puzzled.
If he didn't know why, then he had to take a good hard look at himself in the mirror. Haasan loved to complain, and it was one of the main reason I didn't run the small things past him. I knew he would understand, and if he didn't, I would take the thirty minutes of him complaining. Since business boomed, we barely had time to go out and enjoy ourselves. Once Serenity's trial started, he got clients, and I was busy balancing Serenity and new clients as well. It didn't mean that we grew apart; we had our moments of solitude sometimes.
"Cause-"
"Juju!" I overheard Avianna from downstairs and quickly glanced at Haasan as he shook his head and laid on the bed.
He picked up the remote and changed the channel to ESPN, already giving me the sign that I was no longer his interest anymore.
I walked downstairs and already saw her sitting on the couch as she ate from a Chinese takeout box. Avianna sat on the lazy boy chair and Sunday sat Criss Cross on the floor as they all enjoyed take out making me groan and take the fully defrosted ground turkey and throw it back in the freezer.
"You know I was going to cook right?" I complained and exhaled, taking a seat next to Sunday as Avianna handed me a bag that had a take out plate and what seemed like a Jupina.
For five years I missed this. Being around my sisters and talking about life other than dealing with clients all day and keeping this serious face all the time. I felt so comfortable around my sisters as we talked about everything under the sun. We were locked in together and related to a lot, despite being so different in personality.
