"How're you today, Ivy?"

"Now it's my turn to be rude. I'm afraid I can't talk long today."

"Big test or something?"

"Something like that. I have a concert coming up that is also my final and it will be attended by not only my parents, but also by the head musician of New York's elite symphony. I know that sounds like bragging or something, but -"

"But people don't understand the pressure that comes with such a high person attending."

"Yeah. Exactly. How'd you know?"

"I've been in a situation like that, before. Sorta."

"It's only heightened by the fact that my family is attending."

"Shouldn't that help you relax, knowing your loved ones are there?"

"No. My dad will probably critique me more than the musician will. He's been a hard ass about everything I've ever done my entire life."

"My dad has never critiqued me because he's never even been around."

"Are you closer with your mom?"

"Yeah, I was. Before she went off and died on me."

"Oh, E. I'm sorry. I didn't know."

"Now you do, and I'm glad so. It's obviously not something I talk about much."

"You have your brother, though, right?"

"Yes. He's my best bud. We fight like no other sometimes, but I know it's always him and I in the end."

"He's not the only person you have anymore, though."

"And what do you mean by that?"

"I mean that I'm here, now. If you'll have me."

"I'd be crazy to say no, and anyways, I wouldn't want to. Please know the same goes for me."

"I know. Thank you for listening and for sharing, E."

"No, thank you, Ivy. For dialing the wrong number and coming into my life."
