sometimes all it took
was a bit of reassurance.

"Yes, what?"

"Are you still mad at me?"

"About what?"

"I'm sorry, Ivy. I didn't mean to be so rude yesterday. I realized after you hung up that you were trying to tell me something important and I didn't appreciate it like I should have. Can you tell me what you were saying now?"

"What were you doing, anyways?"

"When?"

"Yesterday, when I called."

"I was, um, well, you see...I'm sorry, Ivy, I can't tell you."

"Why not?"

"I just can't."

"I see."

"It's nothing against you, it's just none of your business-"

"Then I guess what I wanted to tell you is actually none of your business, either."

"No, I didn't mean it like that! Ivy? Ivy!"

"You're so fearless, just hanging up on me like that. I barely know you and yet I'm mad that you're gone and mad at myself for being careless with my words. I'm going to get you to answer me, Ivy. Somehow."

"Don't even think about hanging up on me. I've given you over half the day to be mad at me and cool off, but please don't be mad anymore. See, as you can tell, I don't always say the right things. The truth was I was doing something with my flat mates that was stupid and I didn't want you to know, but my words came out twisted and made it seem like I didn't trust you, when it's just the exact opposite."

"How so?"

"Because I already do trust you. We barely know each other, I'm aware of that, but that doesn't change the strange and surreal pull I feel towards you or the chemistry that we seem to have together. I may only know simple things like your favorite ice cream, number, color, and book series, but I also know about you being in love and how it ended and I want to know more about you, Ivy. So please don't shut me out before I get the chance."

"It's really hard to stay mad when you spill all that to me."

"So don't be."

"I'm a very stubborn person, y'know."

"Now I do."

"I'm sorry for blowing up, too. I came out of the blue with something to say and expected you to listen without remembering that you have a life outside of me."

"Just remember that I'm transitioning into a life that's with you."
