Nate was working late tonight, late as in later than usual. Sure Nate worked from home but it still made Matt feel rather lonely. However, tonight something seemed different, something seemed all too... quiet.
Nate was a musician, usually there wasn't a moment without instrument but the silence tonight brought was eerie to say the least.
Knock knock
"Baby is everything-" Matt started before noticing Nate's head resting on the table. Matt chuckles softly at the sleeping boy, carefully making strides to carry him to bed before his alarm blared annoyingly. He lazily lifted his head and struggled to turn the noise off before stretching. "Love..?" Matt spoke sending Nate jumping out of his chair.
"Shit, I didn't see you there." Nate laughed with a yawn. "I have a lot to do and thought I'd rest my eyes for a few minutes."
"Baby, how bout you get this done tomorrow morning right now you need to sleep desperately." Matt put his hands on Nate's waist, allowing the smaller boy to lean against him.
"No, I gots a lot to do." Nate slurred.
"Nate you can barely keep your eyes open." Matt chuckled. "It's time for bed mister."
"No I-"
"I'm not asking anymore babe, I'm telling. Get into your pajamas I'll be there in a second." Matt pushed his off slightly and nudged him to the door.
"But what about-"
"You have time to do it tomorrow. Pajamas, brush teeth, now." Matt pointed out of the door like a stern mother to which Nate obliged without another argument. Matt shut the open laptop and turn all the lights off, heading into their bedroom to strip his pants off and get into bed with his boy. Nate has emerged out of the bathroom when Matt has gotten into bed arms open and ready to hold him while he slept. Matt missed getting to protect him through the night, it made him felt needed and loved.
"I love you so much." Nate smiles as he climbs into Matt's open arms and rests his head on his chest. Matt pet his hair.
"And I love you more." But before he could get an argument, Nate was fast asleep.
