INT. COTERIE - KITCHEN - day
Dennis walks through the coterie doors and smiles when he sees Davia standing at the counter facing away from him
Davia turns around and looks at him
DENNIS
hey, you're home early
DAVIA
Half day..
Davia takes her her sandwich to the table
DENNIS
You okay?
Davia sighs and nods
DAVIA
It was a half day but it was long
Davia lays her head in her arms on the table
Dennis sits next to her
DAVIA
I went to work, one of my kids moms came up to me and asked why I havent been going to the meetings
DENNIS
Oh so you decided to side with your principle?
Davia shakes her head
DAVIA
I'm not taking any sides I'm just..I dont know waiting I guess
DENNIS
Waiting for what
DAVIA
More proof from my principal that the moms stir up trouble, more proof from the moms that what they're doing is good.. I dont know
Davia sighs and frowns
DAVIA
I'm trying my best, but everything I do I feel like everyones judging me..I have my students telling me my teaching is offensive, I have other teachers telling me to do things that can be relatable to my students...I hate and love teaching and I dont know what to do
Dennis frowns as he slides his hand across her back softly
Malika walks out of her room
DAVIA
I dont know, Maybe I shouldn't be a teacher anymore...
Malika looks at her
MALIKA
What's going on?
DAVIA
Everyone at school hates me
Malika chuckles and sits down across from her
MALIKA
Dont quit, you're doing good...slowly
Davia sits up and slides her sandwich over to Dennis
DAVIA
I'm gonna go take a nap, you can have this
Dennis watches her go to her room and frowns
MALIKA
She'll be fine
Malika gets up and goes over to the fridge
DENNIS
Hey uh..can I ask you for a favor
Malika turns around
DENNIS
I need to quit drinking again...
MALIKA
Is this because you came to my room a couple nights ago?
DENNIS
(Nods)
Yeah, I shouldn't have done that..I use Alcohol to forget what's going on in my head and I need to not do that..its not safe
MALIKA
Okay, so what's the favor?
DENNIS
At some point I may come back up here and I need you to tell me no, I need you to tell me no and to get Davia or force me to talk about it...just dont let me drink
MALIKA
(Nods)
Of crouse...are you uh..are you doing okay? I mean Davia didn't really go in to detail about everything, but she seemed pretty freaked out that you start drinking again
