"Meet again? What do you mean, Saalim? You both know eachother?"
Inturrupting Asmah with her shrilly, curious tone, A woman with a slim figure, medium height and beautiful blonde hair tied in a high ponytail came foreword towards Saalim. Backing away, he spoke up now looking back at Asmah.
"Are you, Ms Asmah?"
Asmah nodded, looking away.
"The boss has asked her to show me around so that I don't get lost again when I come tommorow."
Saalim said with his usual smile, between sheepish chuckles.
"Oh, that's fine. I'll show you around, Asmah is quite busy right now, so I'll help you!"
Everyone else giggled as the woman spoke while making tiny jumps on her toes. She had succeeded in making herself the centre of attraction, along with Saalim who looked too uncomfortable for someone who would get it on a daily basis.
Pathetic.
Asmah internally scoffed before coming foreword. It really annoyed her when people would help her without asking her for it first. It made her feel as if they wanted something from her, even if they only had nothing but pure intentions.
"Its okay, Alice. We'll be fine. Besides, I'm almost done with my work. I really thank you for your offer of helping, but I would rather not want to upset boss by asking someone else to do something he has asked ME to do."
She said in a blank tone with a small smile plastered on her lips, just to make it sound convincing.
The smile on Alice's lips lowered, when she got a slight hint that Asmah was offended. She didn't wanted to provoke her more, in the middle of the crowd like that, and so she gulped before looking down and giving a short nod.
"Umm, okay, if you're fine with it then I guess I-"
"Alice!! I've been looking for you in the cafeteria! Why did you just leave me there?"
Came the same man who had helped Saalim before. Everyone's eyes now averted towards him. The crowd soon dismissed when they were all reminded of their own buiessneses that they had to mind, and Asmah finally got the chance to talk to him.
Not like she wanted to in the first place, but all that unnecessary drama made her want to finish the disliked task sooner than before.
"Shall we go now, Ms Asmah? I need to head home quick too."
Saalim asked smiling at her, while she shifted her eyes back to him from the drifting crowd.
"Ah yeah. Sorry you had to go through so much trouble. People here, are a bit 'too friendly'."
Saalim chuckled at her amusing emphasis.
"I can see that. Though it is nothing but a good thing for a newcomer like me."
"I guess, if you think so."
Asmah shrugged replying back.
"So, where should we go first?"
Saalim asked with curious eyes. He had sounded like a curious child just then, which made her take some extra time to think before she answered.
"Uh, I think we should start with the cafeteria. All this day's work has got me hungry so I'll pick a quick snack there, and you can take a glance too."
