"It's been a week already."Saalim realized, smiling to himself as he ordered for a cup of coffee at the counter.
"Just a week and look how close we are now..."
Alex said smiling widely at him, making him chuckle. Alex really was the first friend he had made at the company since he first entered it. And he now only hoped that this friendship would keep going on smoothly.
"Hey Saalim!"
The shrilly voice echoed in the hall, the one who it belonged to walking towards the men. The sound of Alice's heels clacking on the floor fretted Saalim, but being the kind gentleman he was, he didn't show it on his face, since he knew that even she couldn't control the sound that they caused. And also because, he had to be nice with each and everyone to get away from drama as much as possible. So even if he had to act for it, he'd do that.
"Whatcha ordering?"
She asked with a wide smile, her hands resting on her hips.
"Nothing. Just a simple cup of coffee."
The person at the counter handed him the cup of steaming mocha and he backed off, giving space to Alice who now came foreword between the two, still staring at him.
"You can order now. We're done. Let's go Alex."
Alex, who had been staring at her, looked up at him, then nodded with a smile.
"See ya!"
Resting her elbow on the counter as she stared at the distance they walked off to, a thin smirk lined her tinted lips.
If only YOU were a snack, I wouldn't ever hesitate to order you.
She thought, a giggle leaving her mouth as she looked away. She had started to gain an interest in him, but she didn't know if it would last long, because small interests hadn't ever lasted long for her. And now with Alex around, she could never fall for anyone else. He had become a hurdle for her, that was difficult to jump off of.
"Hey Huda."
Asmah called as she sipped from her packet of orange juice. Huda who was busy chewing onto her burger, gulped it in and looked up,
"What?"
"Don't you think that this Saalim is a bit wierd?"
"What do you mean?"
Huda asked, the blank expression on her face never leaving it.
"I mean, he keeps smiling at each and everyone at the company, and it's just so-"
Asmah paused when she heard Huda chuckle.
"What? What was that for?"
She asked with a frown.
"Nothing. I'm just surprised that someone like you, who does nothing but crack stupid and lame jokes making herself and the people around her laugh, is saying something like this about someone who merely just smiles."
Asmah blinked. It did make some sense. Shaking her head, she retorted back.
"No, that's not the point here! What I'm saying is that, don't you find it a bit, unusual? Or maybe creepy? That this person LITRALLY smiles at everyone he meets. Without a reason."
"I thought you told me that one did not require a reason to smile. That it's all natural?"
"Yes I did say that but smiling ALL the time does not look like it comes naturally you know! Maybe you won't understand cause you haven't noticed, but at times I really feel like he's forcing all of it."
