What fate, Asmah Zaman.
A crooked smile took form on her dry sullen lips, as she stared at the man in front of her, who was clad in his wood brown crew neck sweater, now wearing a smile too, as he stared back at her.
"Oh, A-Assalamualekum,"
She muttered out feebly, slowly half lifting her hand towards the duo, as a wave.
"Assalamualekum."
Her brother's stern tone finally bought her out of the train of thoughts-that had already left it's station-in her mind so that she now turned to him with the same expression. He looked down at her, his smile had now faded away, but so had hers, as she searched his face for any signs of question, her eyes wide open.
He quickly figured that she was nervous, even though the situation didn't mean the same for him. And just like he would, every time he felt so, he slid his large hand over her small one.
"Waalekumasalam, Doctor Asad."
Sana nodded with a small smile-the one she wore to the hospital everyday-as she walked towards the Zaman siblings, who stood hand in hand, over the same path as them.
"Didn't know that you lived around here as well."
He questioned with a raised eyebrow, an unwelcomed smirk grazing his lips. He looked around before looking right into her chocolate eyes, which only gazed at him, not smiling.
"Could say the same thing for you, Doctor."
She quickly answered back, shifting her eyes towards his sister, who had been staring at her with doe eyes while they exchanged the coversation, and now quickly build up a smile. She eyed their hands for a while before asking.
"She's your sibling, I assume?"
"Yes, you assumed it right, Doctor Sana."
Asad nodded, and Asmah-who had very well caught the smile that had been present on him for a little too long-now smiled wide at him when he stole a look of her.
OH just you wait, Asad Zaman. MUHAHAHAH!
"Now you may want to answer if my assumption of this young man,"
Asad signelled with his hand.
"as your foster brother is right, is it not?"
"Ah yes! That's true!"
Sana gave a quick nod, chuckling at the unusual emphasis, that caused Saalim to look at the two doctors with raised eyebrows. While Asmah, who had started to enjoy the whole idea of what was happening, only smiled more, eyeing the two teasingly.
Saalim could only increase the level of his smile when he caught Asad's eyes, then came forward to greet him as they shook hands.
"Perhaps you both, know each other?"
Sana asked, glancing at the two faces, that only seemed to avoid looking at each other. But what she found was, a certain resemblance in the way the two first looked at her, then at one another.
