chapter 11: short, hellish and handsome

Zeldris slapped Ahmya.

Derieri and Monspeet took a step back.

Ahmya gasped sitting up, she was frantically coughing and trying to catch her breath.

Zeldris sat beside the bed his hand still raised from slapping her. He wasn't sure if he was scared or confused maybe both.

"What the hell was that?!" He asked quite boldly.

All three flinched for a split of a second when Ahmya's head whipped to the side and looked out the window before landing on Zeldris.

"I don't remember..."

Daniel and Shane stood protectively in front of the talking pig as the heavy footstep of whoever approached came closer to the Tavern door. The figure opened and stood in tall in silver armour that covered his whole body. 

"Is this the Boar Hut tavern?" He asked.

"You must be the ghost knight everyone's been speaking about," Taro asked jumping over the bar counter

Hawk started screaming and liquids came flying out of his body causing Daniel to move away from him but that also alerted Elizabeth and she came running in to check on him.

"Ah, Lady Elizabeth," Taro and Daniel readied the weapons keeping them close by not sure if this knight was friend or foe. "You've grown up to be a fine young lady."

The four shared a look and parted ways so they weren't blocking his view.

"When I caught sight of you in Vaizel, I couldn't believe it was you, and so I didn't approach you,"

"Vaizel?" She then recognised him and realised he was there as a fighter.

"He isn't alive," Duke said through their mind link.

"One of Melascula's resurrections?" Shane asked.

"Yep,"

They all put their guard down and settled to listen to his words.

"I haven't seen you in ten years, after all," he took off his helmet and the boys' suspicions were confirmed.

"No way...are you...Grand Master Zaratros?"

"Hey Beth, you seemed to know this guy, so we're gon' head out for a bit," Daniel said grabbing her hand away from her mouth and giving her a small smile.

"Um...okay. You stay safe- I mean all of you stay safe!" 

The boys left with waves before Shane set up a small campfire outside with a few logs around it.

"So what's the plan. Power up and kill everyone. Power up and kill almost everyone-ooh, power up and take-over the world, Taro you know you always wanted to," Shane said a bit too dramatic.

Taro rolled his eyes and spread his wings before he took out his sword and the armour around his wings appeared. Duke helped him take it off carefully so the wing armour was sprawled out in front of him where he sat on one of the logs. Shane's eye twitched as he watched the boy ignore him and start polishing his armour.

He turned to Daniel but found him on a freakishly long tree branch, his doing, staring into the window of the room Meliodas was in.

Duke's hands glowed blue before he was levitating himself onto the branch. He crouched behind Daniel and wrapped his arms around the boy's middle. Daniel rolled his eyes but let him be. Duke saw what he was looking at, Beth.
