1 shinji is a fucking crybaby he can't even grow up all he does is retreat him compared to amuro amuro even had trouble to but he matured during the one year war. yui not around & he wanted to praise his father, he's too shady asuka is right on some things (despite her past).
2 gendo he's been scheming shit everyone is right at his hands yui was the main hero gendo is a bad guy might was well he joined ul with seele instead of using nerv so he he forward his plans.

Grave drake pov:
I stand in front of shinji ikari's grave & yui ikari's grave shinji supposed to be here with the rest of the people he trust, well that didn't work well, i lay some fresh flowers & his SDAT player he carries around rei found them.
