Michael stormed angrily back into the school building, pissed off and scared all at the same time. He felt like there was a hurricane inside his stomach, like he could throw up at any second. He scowled at everyone that walked by him, pushing hard past their shoulders and not bothering to move out of the way for people who tried to get by him. He was about to just walk straight into the bathroom and try to calm down, but he knew that if he was going to go through with this that now was a good a time as any. He didn't care where Luke was or what he was doing anymore - he had one thing on his mind.

Michael walked straight past all the classrooms, the bathrooms, the janitor's closet he's come to know all too well, and into the lunchroom, right up to Addy. He could feel the stares of the other students as he looked around, but to be honest he couldn't have cared less.

"Ellis," he called out, spotting her in the corner of the big room and making his way over to the little rectangular table where she was sat. She was eating across from Calum, as usual, who was in the middle of telling her something that seemed to be pretty entertaining. She threw her head back and laughed loudly, earning a laugh from Calum as well. Michael felt a pang of jealousy in his stomach, but he didn't care. He needed to talk to her.

"Michael!" Addy turned around and smiled, Calum grumbling something under his breath that he probably wouldn't want Michael to hear. Addy put her water bottle down and stood up, walking over to meet him a few feet away. "What are you doing in here?"

"We have to talk," he replied shortly, grabbing her arm and walking hastily out of the cafeteria. Addy didn't have time to protest as she was dragged out, staring wide eyed at Michael, who wasn't looking back. He stopped outside some lockers, letting her arm go and staring down at her. He felt like the hurricane had just gotten about one hundred times stronger.

"What's this about?" Addy asked slowly, quickly detecting that something definitely wasn't right. She wondered what in the world they'd have to talk about, unless Michael wanted to talk about where they were in terms of a relationship or something. Guys were always like that.

What she didn't know was that this was about to get much more complicated.

Michael's eyes narrowed and his heart broke. He'd never had a heart attack, but he assumed it would feel something like this. He parted his lips before taking a deep breath, letting everything come out all at once.

"It's over," he said lowly, grimacing as he tried not to just scream out loud to her. He didn't want to do this, God, he wished he didn't have to, but he knew there wasn't much time or much other choice. "Whatever we had," he continued, gesturing between the two of them, feeling more and more like he was going to be sick. "Whatever you thought we had - it's done. It never began, Ellis. I used you." His words hung in the air for a few seconds and Addy's mouth opened slightly, like words were about to come out but they just couldn't. Michael swore he could feel his bones breaking.

"Wh-what?" She stuttered out after a few seconds, and Michael just rolled his eyes. He wanted to lean down and kiss her and tell her he was joking; tell her that this was only the beginning, but he forced himself to hold his stare and clench his jaw.

"Are you deaf?" he laughed meanly, throwing his hands up in the air. His heart felt so heavy that he wouldn't have been surprised if it dropped into his stomach. "I don't 'love you' or whatever. I never did and I never will. I wanted you for sex, Ellis, nothing else. But you're difficult, so I don't really care anymore. You aren't worth the chase," he shrugged, like he expected her to take this casually. He was so conflicted he could've screamed but he stayed silent, leaving a sense of broken infatuation in the air.

Addy's eyes brimmed with tears, but most of all she felt incredibly stupid. She stood there silently in front of Michael, pretty sure that she'd never hated someone so much in her life.

"I never loved you either," she spat, lying through her teeth. She'd only known him for a few months but she was so interested in him - she wanted to know who he was and why he had been so closed up. Guess she'd never find out. "Fuck you, Michael." She didn't even want to look at him anymore. She was so disgusted with him and upset that she had to turn away, walking toward the lunchroom and anywhere besides with him.

"Wait, Ellis!" Michael called, and she heard footsteps toward her. She stopped and turned around, letting the tears tears fall freely down her cheeks now as she looked up at him.

"What, Michael!" she shouted, throwing her hands up in the air, not bothering to wipe the tears off her cheeks. "What could you possibly want now?" She whispered the last part, sure that her voice would just break if she tried to speak.

Michael didn't really have an answer.

He also kind of wanted to die.

"G-good," he stuttered, realizing he wasn't too sure why he'd gone after her. Then again, he didn't really know why he had in the first place. Addy made his head hurt. "I didn't want you to love me. I don't need you to." Her eyes looked so sad and Michael wanted to punch himself for being such a dick, but he knew the risks were too great. Addy couldn't be a part of this. She needed to be safe.

"Then what do you need, Michael? Because it sure as hell isn't me." She didn't even bother to wait for a response as she stormed off toward the bathrooms, leaving Michael heartbroken in the hallway.

A few seconds later, Michael heard loud, slow claps coming from behind him.

"I didn't think you'd do it so soon," Luke grinned, strolling up casually behind Michael. Michael didn't turn to face him; he knew he wouldn't be able to stop himself from kicking Luke's ass if he had to look him in the eyes.

"I want out," Michael stated, his feet still planted in the same place they were. His voice was a bit higher and shaky, but he brushed it off.

"Give me my money and you're out," Luke replied easily, still walking around behind Michael. "You've got another month. Then I'm bringing her into it, got it?"

"She has a fucking name," Michael said hotly, gritting his teeth.

"Right," Luke countered, staring at Michael. "Like you care anyway." He walked a bit closer, and Michael squeezed his eyes shut. He wasn't sure if he was expecting a punch, or if he just couldn't handle looking at Luke right now. He decided it was probably both.

"You leave her alone, Hemmings, I swear to God," Michael hissed, his eyes still squeezed shut. He knew Luke cared about her, but not nearly as much as Michael did. Luke would never hurt Addy, but it didn't mean he couldn't get other people to do it.

"I'm not against you," Luke started, walking around the front of Michael now. His voice was softer, but not for long. "But I trusted you to get me one grand by the end of last month and I still don't have it. Time's running out, Clifford, and it's your fault."

The truth was that Michael really could pay back Luke pretty easily- probably within a few days. Michael had money, quite a lot of it that he'd been saving for his family, but he always felt like pissing Luke off for just a little longer. He never really did like Luke.

"Fine," Michael said bitterly, opening his eyes and staring at Luke. He knew this game of his had come to an end and people were in serious danger. For the first time in a long time, Michael actually cared about the safety of someone else. "I'll have your money by next month." Luke didn't smile, just stood there with his arms at his sides.

"For your sake," Luke replied, his face emotionless. "I really hope that's true."
