Chapter 9
We walked into the hockey house. Zach and Liv were back to their lovey-dovey selves leading the way, and I was sandwiched between Travis and Niko, both of them with their arms draped around me. As we pushed our way inside, I couldn't help but look around at all the unfamiliar faces. It was by far the busiest I've ever seen it.
"Wanna go upstairs? Selman said he has a full bar up there," Travis yelled over the music. I nodded my head, looking at Niko who was also nodding. Travis led the way, pushing his way through the crowd, leading us upstairs. When we got the top of the stairs, a kid I've never seen before standing behind a velvet rope.
"This is one of our freshmen," Niko sighed, dapping up the kid. "Joseph, this is one of the seniors from last year, Travis, and this is Larkin's girl," He smirked, patting the top of my head as I smiled. "This is Joseph," Niko smirked, patting the kid's back.
"Since when was the upstairs roped-off?" Travis looked at Niko as he just shrugged.
"Since you guys almost got everything up here stolen from you last year. Selman put tight rules on the upstairs. It's for players and significant others only. No one-time hook-ups up here, only girlfriends," he smiled, all of us looking around at all the players that were up here.
"MY BAR!" Travis laughed, running over to it like a kid running to his presents under the tree on Christmas morning. I laughed softly, looking up at Niko who just rolled his eyes and shook his head, laughing softly.
"How are you really doing?" He gulped as I shrugged, smiling softly.
"I mean, I wish I could see him right now," I mumbled, Niko nodding his head.
"Understandably so," he gulped, taking a sip of his drink. He glanced passed me for a minute, but as I went to turn around, he grabbed my hand, smiling brightly. "You're, nails!" He jumped as I looked at him strangely.
"What?" I laughed as he shook his head.
"Travis told me to not let you turn around. I think he has a gift for you or something, I don't know," he sighed as I laughed, shaking my head.
"Thank you guys for bringing him out here. If I can't spend tonight with my real boyfriend, then I'd want to spend it with my fake boyfriend," I giggled as Niko laughed, nodding his head.
"Understandable," he chuckled as someone came up behind me, putting their hands over my eyes.
"Guess who?" Travis smiled as I laughed, shaking my head. "Do you trust me?" He gulped as I nodded.
"I guess," I giggled.
"Put your hands out," Travis stated as I laughed, putting my hands out. I felt them put something in my hands, then it got really quiet around us, the only noise was the music playing downstairs. "Do you know the significance of this song?" He laughed.
"What?" I laughed, as I stood there, his hands still over my eyes.
"Not this one, but the next song. I promise you it's coming on," he laughed, everyone else laughing too, including me. "Selman, change the damn song, will ya?" He yelled, everyone, erupting into a loud laughter.
"Sorry," Selman yelled out, Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy) starting to play through the speakers making me smile.
"Yes, I know this song," I giggled as Travis cleared his throat.
"What does the song mean to you?" He chuckled as I laughed, clearing my throat.
"This is our song," I giggled.
"And what about this song," he gulped, the song quickly changing to Wagon Wheel.
"This was the song that was playing when I first met both you and Dylan," I said softly, a soft smile on my face, tears welling in my eyes as I thought about my boyfriend who I hadn't seen in a month.
"More importantly, who's song is this?" Travis placed another thing in my hands.
"Me and Dyls," I mumbled, sniffling softly. The hands came off my eyes, but when I opened them, Travis was in front of me. I looked at him strangely before looking in my hands. There was a bouquet of white roses as well as one single beautiful yellow flower. "What?" I gulped, looking up at Travis before turning around. My heart dropped, along with the flowers, as I threw my arms around the man. He laughed softly, picking me up and holding me tightly as I cried into his shoulder.
"Hi, Bub," he laughed, holding me as if he'd never be able to do it again.
"What are doing here?" I cried, leaning back and cupping his face in my hands.
"Did you really think I'd miss our anniversary?" He laughed as I just smiled, kissing him softly. I pulled back, placing my forehead against his, smiling as I looked into his eyes. "I got you white roses. Travis said that they meant eternal loyalty and everlasting love," he smirked as I just smiled. "The yellow one is from him. I guess it means friendship," he laughed before kissing me again. I pulled back, smiling against his lips.
"I love you, Dylan Larkin," I smiled as he laughed, pecking me softly.
"I love you, Ryan Hayes," he chuckled, hugging me tightly.
