Troy and Gabriella play Basketball

"This is when Troy and Gabriella talk and play basketball in the gym." Elena said.

Gym

Troy shoots a basket and Gabriella walks behind him

Gabriella:
Wow,
So this is your real stage,

Troy:
Yeah, I guess you could call it that,
Or just a smelly gym,

Troy hands Gabriella the ball and she shoots a basket

"You play basketball." Everyone asked shocked.

"Yep." Gabriella said.

Troy:
Whoa,
Don't tell me you're good at hoops too,

Gabriella:
You know,
I once scored 41 points at a league championship game,

"No way!" All the boys said.

"Gabster, I'm versing you on one- one, alright." Chad said.

Troy:
No way,

Gabriella:
Mm-hm,
And the same day I invented the space shuttle and microwave popcorn,

Troy:
Oh,
Microwave popcorn,
Ha-ha Funny,

Troy takes the ball from Gabriella and shoots another basket

Gabriella:
I've been rehearsing with Kelsi,

Troy:
Me, too,
And, by the way, I missed practice,
So if I get kicked off the team it'll be on your conscience,

Gabriella:
Hey, I wasn't the one who told you...

Troy:
Gabriella, chill,

Gabriella takes the ball and starts running

Troy:
Hey, that's traveling,
No, that's really bad traveling,

Troy chases her, grabs her and spins around

"You guys are so cute." Kelsi said.

Gabriella laughs and Coach Bolton walks in

Coach Bolton:
Miss I'm sorry, this is a closed practice,

Troy:
Dad, practice is over,

Coach Bolton:
Not till the last player leaves,
Team rule,

Gabriella:
Oh, I'm sorry, sir,

Coach Bolton:
Dad, this is Gabriella Montez,

Coach Bolton:
Ah, your detention buddy,

"Ooo." The boys said.

"I'm sorry Gabriella for speaking to you like that." Coach Bolton said.

"Its alright Mr Bolton, I understand that the championship was coming and you wanted your team and your son to focus on it." Gabriella said.

"Thanks but what did I say, call me Jack." Coach Bolton said.

Troy smiled, happy that his father and his fiancee have a good relationship and how his girlfriend is understanding about his father.

Gabriella hands Troy the basketball

Gabriella:
I'll see you later Troy,
Nice meeting you Coach Bolton,

Gabriella walks away

Coach Bolton:
You as well, Miss Montez,

Troy:
Dad, detention was my fault,
Not hers,

Coach Bolton:
You haven't missed practice in three years,

"Wow." All the girls said.

That girl shows up...

Troy:
That girl is named Gabriella,
She's very nice,

Coach Bolton:
Helping you miss practice doesn't make her very nice,
Not in my book,
Or your team's,

Troy:
Dad, she's not a problem,
She's just a girl,

Coach Bolton:
But you're not just a guy Troy,
You're the team leader,
What you do effects not only this team,
But the entire school,
And without you completely focused,
We're not gonna win next week,
The championship games,
They don't come along all the time,
They're something special,

Troy:
Yeah, well a lot of things are special Dad,

Coach Bolton:
But you're a playmaker not a singer, right?

"He was both though, and he was good at both of them." Mr Danforth said.

Troy:
Did you ever think maybe I could be both?

Troy drops the basketball and walks out of the gym
