It was a very busy day at the Rodent's Gazette. I was sitting at my desk, working hard. There were letters to review, editorials to write, news articles to look at...

"I'm so busy!" I sighed.

Oh, how rude of me. I didn't introduce myself! My name is Geronimo, Geronimo Stilton. I am the editor of the Rodent's Gazette, the most widely read newspaper in New Mouse City.

But at that moment, there was a sharp knock on the door.

"I'm sorry but I'm too busy today!" I shouted. "I really can't meet right now..."

But the door opened anyway, and Grandfather William strode into the room.

"Geronimo, what is keeping you so busy that you don't have time to see me!" Grandfather William complained. Grandfather William was the founder of the Rodent's Gazette and he loved to come by the office even though he was officially retired.

I started to explain, "There is THIS important article, and THAT piece about..."

But Grandfather William cut me off, "Enough, Geronimo!" he interrupted loudly, "There is an important and urgent adventure that I need you to go on right away."

I mumbled, "But... Grandfather William... I'm telling you... I'm really busy today..."

"No it cannot wait!" Grandfather William shouted emphatically. "Otherwise, Sally Ratmousen will get the news story."

Now that caught my attention.

Sally Ratmousen was my main rival, and she ran the Daily Rat. The Daily Rat was NOT a newspaper, but a gossip tabloid. But she sometimes tried to print news and spread rumours conflating fact and fiction!

Grandfather William said, "So now I have your attention! You must head to Mouse Island East. Thea has all the details."

"Ok Grandfather William," I agreed.

"It could be the story of the century!" Grandfather William shouted. "Hurry, Geronimo, hurry!"

As I started to walk out of my office, I bumped into my sister Thea. She was all ready to go!

She asked, "Geronimo, are you ready to go?"

I replied, "Thea, I was just about to come tell you, let me prepare..."

She grabbed my arm, "Come on. There is no time to waste!" She kept walking down the corridor, hurrying me along, "I'll fill you in on the way."

"Oh why, oh why? Why am I always the last one to know?" I wailed.
