Trap quickly put on a suit, and handed me one too.

"Put these on cousinkins!" he said loudly.

"What... why you... and Thea... go with you?" I stuttered. I didn't want to go out swimming in the deep ocean!

"I need Thea to keep control of the submarine," replied Trap, "So you have to come with me!"

"Well... um..." I mumbled. Cheesy cheese sticks! I couldn't think of any excuses!

"Unless you want me to take Benjamin as backup?" Trap started, and I knew I had to be brave. There was no way I would let my favourite nephew into the ocean bottom. It was way too dangerous!

So reluctantly, I put on the underwater suit. At least, there was a cord that attached the suit to the submarine so Thea could pull us back to safety if needed...

Trap and I swam from the submarine to the sunken ship. We aimed straight for the golden treasure chest.

I was really scared but Trap seemed completed absorbed by the shiny treasure.

I kept looking around, I felt like a ghost or a monster would creep out of every shadow.

I thought I saw something... big and long...

But when I looked again, there was nothing.

Is it just my fear getting ahead of me? Or is there something really scary here?

I called out to Trap, "I think there may be something scary here..."

Trap just said, "Are you scared of the treasure? There's nothing else here." He said shining his flashlight. "Don't be such a scaredy mouse, Cousinkins!"

I followed Trap, and that's when I saw it.

There was an enormouse squid guarding the shining treasure!

Shaking in fear, I pulled Trap's arm and pointed to the squid.

The huge squid's eyes were bigger than Trap. In fact, the eyes were almost as big as our submarine!

I couldn't see how huge it was, hidden by the sunken ship. But this squid was bigger than the shark!

Oh why, oh why do these troubles keep falling on me!
