The squid had six huge legs, they were all trying to protect the golden treasure.
Trap swam quickly forward, and grabbed two large gold coins!
He forced one into my arms, and shouted, "Guard this with your life, Cousinkins!"
He waved to Thea, a signal to pull them back in to the submarine. Thea turned on rotor and the cord contracted, pulling us quickly away from the sunken ship and to the safety of the submarine.
I don't think I ever read anywhere that squids like to eat mice, but I was still scared. I'm sure taking the golden coin didn't endear me to the huge squid!
As Thea pulled us in, I saw Trap reach the submarine first. I was also zooming through the underwater ocean, but not quickly enough.
The squid's legs shot forward and grabbed me by the ankle!
Trap managed to get away, just in time. I could see him scrambling into the submarine.
Oh why, oh why did this have to happen to me? The treasure hunt wasn't even my idea!
I wanted to cry, but I knew that submarine's cord was tied to me. For all of us, I needed to find an escape.
I wanted to drop the gold coin, so the squid would chase after that. But I knew that I would never hear the end of it from Trap.
I thought hard, so hard that my head started to spin, when a ridiculous idea came to me.
I started to tickle the squid's suction cup with my tail!
It seems like a squid had never been tickled like this before, and it stared to wriggle and dance in a funny way. If I didn't know any better, I would say that the squid was laughing!
The squid let go of me.
"Thank goodness!" I waved frantically to Thea, and she quickly pulled me inside the submarine.
Once inside, I was so scared, I just wanted to curl up into a ball under a blanket. But before I could say anything, Trap clapped me on the back.
He grinned, "I thought I almost lost you back there, Cousinkins!"
Thea hugged me and said, "Good job bringing back the second gold coin!"
Benjamin beamed at me, "Uncle G! That was amazing!"
Even I felt proud of myself.
ThenThea grabbed the controls, and we headed to Mouse Island East.
