Trap kept the submarine zooming at fast speed. "We need to get to Mouse Island East, so we can ventilate!" he chided.
Just then, Benjamin pointed outside and shouted, "Look everyone! There are so many fish!"
His face was pressed against the submarine window as Benjamin stared as the small colourful fish. The fish were coming to peck at my breakfast!
Thea had not tied the bag closed as she threw it out of the submarine, and my breakfast of bread and cheddar cheese was attracting all the fish!
"Oh dear, oh dear," I said embarrassed.
"It is very pretty, Uncle G!" Benjamin tried to console me.
Benjamin, Thea and I stood by the submarine window, looking out at the fish together. It was a peaceful moment, in what had turned out to be a rough day so far.
"It is colourful," Thea finally said with a smile and she snapped a few photos of the fish and the undersea view. It was a beautiful sight, even though I didn't want to think about what attracted all the fish.
Benjamin was the first to notice.
"What is that, Uncle G?" he asked, with fear in his voice. Thea and I strained our eyes to look out the submarine.
Larger fish were gathering to eat the smaller fish, and among them... there was a shark!
"Oh no, it's a big shark!" Benjamin shouted.
A great white shark, with his huge jaws wide open was swimming like a bullet.
"Oh my goodness!" I exclaimed in horror. "It's coming at us. Fast!" Before I could move, the shark was right here.
The shark was about to swallow us whole! Just then, Thea flung herself to the controls next to Trap, and slammed on the emergency button.
Trap was wrestling with the controls, trying his best to escape from the shark. But the shark was too fast. The shark's huge teeth and strong jaws clamped down on the submarine. The whole submarine shook like an earthquake.
"Oh no!" I wailed. I wanted to faint. But I knew that to stay strong to keep Benjamin safe.
The shark's sharp teeth made horrible scratching noises against the submarine.
Thea warned, "I turned on the emergency protection, but it won't last!"
Trap grunted, "I can't... get this... submarine... through the shark's teeth!" as the submarine banged against the inside of the shark's teeth, clenched like jail bars. "The teeth are blocking the way!"
The shark kept trying to chew and crush the submarine, despite the emergency protection in place.
It was clear. There was no way out of this shark's mouth.
