We finally reached Mouse Island East, and Thea navigated the submarine towards the surface.
We hadn't realized, but the sunken ship was very near Mouse Island East. We saw Sally Ratmousen's expedition ships.
Just then I remembered, Grandfather William and Thea had not told me what I was supposed to look for at Mouse Island East.
I turned to Thea, just as she blurted out, "That's it! That sunken ship was the ancient treasure ship that Grandfather William wanted us to investigate!"
Trap nodded, "That must be right! We didn't realize because the shark took us off course."
Then it all made sense.
Grandfather William wanted us to report on a treasure ship sunk near Mouse Island East! Oh why, oh why was I always the last one to know?
Sally Ratmousen's expedition ships were all looking for the treasure ship in the wrong place!
We immediately alerted the naval authorities, and Thea and I made an exclusive report on the sunken treasure ship.
The next day, the front page of the Rodent's Gazette was filled with news and photos of the sunken treasure ship, and our adventures.
Grandfather William looked at the front page proudly and said, "Thea, I knew it was the right thing to send you. Trap, great job with the treasure ship. Benjamin, I heard about your great ideas and contributions."
Then Grandfather Willam turned to me, put a hand on my shoulder and said, "Geronimo, I didn't know you had it in you, but you did a great job."
We all beamed proudly and this exciting news got shared with all of New Mouse City.
That's why the Rodent's Gazette is the favourite newspaper of New Mouse City.
