friday 8:11 p.m.
Hazel sat on the swing set in her backyard, waiting for Levi to come over. She had so many mixed emotions about the different things going on in her life. And for some reason as much as she tried to distance herself from her problems when she was with her friends, somehow Levi had caught on. Probably because she always had moments where she was lost in her thoughts, or it is because she tried too hard to hide the things going on in her head. Whatever the reason was, she was grateful for Levi's support. It felt good to let things off her chest without feeling like a burden.
From her backyard, she could see Levi pulling up on his bicycle into her driveway. She smiled, remembering how happy he was to buy his bike instead of a car. And even when his father did buy him a car, he still rode his bike to and from school.
She loved how the simple things in life made him happy. She would be lying if she said she never had a crush on him when she first met him. But it wore off when she realized that yes, she loved everything about him, especially the fact that he could make her smile even on her worst days, but at the end of the day they vibe together better as friends and she was fine with that.
"Hey, biker boy," Hazel said with a smile as Levi got off his bike and hopped over her gate.
Levi let out a chuckle and stood right in front of her. "Good day to you Hazel Matthews. How could my services be of help on this fine evening."
Levi bowed in front of her. She could not help but think of him as an actual prince. A prince that smoked a lot of weed and listened to a lot of Bob Marley and The Weeknd seemed charming enough in Hazel's eyes.
"Follow me and you will see" Hazel led him to her back door and they made their way upstairs to her room. Levi immediately took Hazel's bed, while Hazel sat at the chair in front of her desk. She knew that the serious part was coming. It was time for her to get things off her chest. She knew she needed this more than ever because she felt like her head would explode if she didn't tell someone.
She never tried to hold things in for too long, but she still wanted to make sure everyone else was all right before letting everything out. Plus, she wanted to go to the right person when it was time.
"Well, since you're here, I guess it's time for me to tell you where my head has been at."
Hazel was mentally preparing herself and getting her thoughts together, so everything she said made sense and came outright. She remembered when she did the same thing before she had a sit-down with her mother to talk about what was going on and what she was feeling. But in the end, it never helped. Her mother still always found something to argue about. If it didn't make sense to her then it didn't matter. If it made her seem like the bad guy, she would push it aside like it meant nothing. And if it had anything to do with her new husband, Travis, then it was completely off-limits to talk about and she was just being an ungrateful "brat".
These were the reasons she never felt safe opening up to anyone, except Phoenix. But now Phoenix had her problems to worry about and Hazel was only worried about being there for her like she had been so many times before. And here right now, Hazel had a new person willing to listen to her. She hoped that her emotions and problems would make sense. She could not believe she was feeling insecure about her feelings.
"Go ahead Hazel, I'm here to listen. Not to judge." Hazel could only guess that he had seen her wipe her palms on her jeans. It was a nervous habit of hers. At that moment Hazel decided that she was going to let it all out there and say everything that was going on in her mind and life.
