Chapter 18

"Lisa, where are you?" A sixteen-year-old called into an earpiece. His eyes scanned the dark alleys from a roof through his sniper.

"5:30, JK. Shouldn't your super hearing have picked me up by now, babe?" A small chuckle echoed through his ear.

"Oh shush, Lis, have you found the target?" Jungkook questioned the girl.

"Crap. Yeah, he's behind me." Lisa whispered.

"Just keep walking until I can see you, okay Lis?" He heard no reply. "Lisa?!"

Her tiny frame ran into his view. He watched as a hooded figure appeared out of thin air and slammed her against the brick wall of the alley.

"You're a super!" Lisa panted, her face hidden by the man's shoulder.

"Why are you following me?" A deep voice barked, his voice crackled in Jungkook's earpiece.

"I-I thought you were someone else! Please!" She begged, her voice cracked as the stranger choked her.

"Lisa! I don't have a clear shot!" Jungkook loudly whispered, his eyes searching for a safe shot.

"Kookie... shoot..." she gasped and the stranger suddenly teleported away from her. The bullet lodged into her shoulder and she fell to the ground.

"Jungkook?" The stranger's voice called out from behind the sixteen-year-old. Jungkook whipped around and pulled out a handgun from his waistband, the nozzle aimed at the stranger.

"Who are you?!" Jungkook demanded, his teeth grit in anger. The stranger pulled down his hoodie and face mask, revealing a seventeen-year-old.

"Taehyung?" Jungkook tilted his head in confusion. "What are you doing here?"

"Just grabbing a drink." Taehyung slightly slurred.

"Are you drunk?" Jungkook asked in disbelief.

"Generally, yeah," Taehyung let out an emotionless laugh, a smile that didn't reach his eyes.

"JK? Can I get some help down here?" Lisa whispered into the earpiece, snapping Jungkook back to reality.

"Shit. Tae, can you grab Lisa down there?" Jungkook requested the older. The seventeen-year-old nodded his head and disappeared, he reappeared with a bleeding Lisa a second later.

Jungkook rushed to the girl and his lips met hers. Their kiss was short but full of emotions. Jungkook pulled away to apologize but Lisa put her finger on his lips, stopping him.

"It was an accident. I'm okay, love," she whispered, her loving eyes met Jungkook's guilty ones.

An awkward cough broke their moment. Jungkook popped his head up and looked in the Phoenix's direction.

"Oh! Ummm, Lisa meet Taehyung, Tae meet Lisa," Jungkook introduced the two.

"Kim Taehyung. Subject 13. Superpower: Phoenix. Weakness: Iron," Lisa announced.

"H-How–" Taehyung looked lost in the situation. Lisa sighed.

"My full name is Song Lalisa. My father is the infamous Dr. Song. And before you try and attack me, he did the same thing to me as he did to you," Lisa raised her arms in a cautious manner, as if to say she meant no harm.

"He kidnapped Jungkook three years ago and we have been looking for him ever since," Taehyung growled at the female as he took a step towards the couple.

"We know. We've had to hide from you for the last two years," Lisa replied, her eyes squeezed shut as Jungkook pressed on her wounded shoulder, a hiss left her mouth.
