Chapter 27

––Two Months Later––

(3002)

Lisa laid her head on Jungkook's chest, his beating heart a reassurance that he was still alive. Her fingers played with her boyfriend's limp ones as she told him of her latest mission involving taking out the lead guard at the laboratory they rescued him from.

"He told us when we were... interrogating him that you were deaf. I hope that Jin's healing fixed that so you have heard everyone's stories the last five months. They've made you into some type of superhero. It's cute," she sighed, "I hope you can hear us and you know you aren't back in that disgusting lab anymore, that you are safe and home. You know... I think you would like this house. I picked this room and the colors, so I hope you like it. I mean, if you don't, we can go buy new stuff... I miss you, Kookie. I miss waking up in your arms, your bunny smile, your cute little laugh. We all miss you. Taehyung left again, which I had a feeling would happen since that is what he did when you were taken the first time. Rose sees him sometimes, but only her, I wonder if there is something going on between them..." A small smile graced her lips as she thought about the endless teasing Jungkook would surely give Taehyung if they were together.

A beep from her watch triggered her to sit up.

'Dinner'.

"I've got to go to dinner babe. I'll be back later. Channie oppa said it was Pork Soup Rice, which I know is one of your favorites..." she pecked his cheek and stood up, "don't go anywhere, love."

Lisa made her way down the stairs and to the dining room, where some of the members were already eating. Chan, Felix, Hoseok, and Jin sat at the table, their happy banter echoed off the walls along with the clinking of dining ware. She sat down at the empty chair next to Hoseok and across from Felix. Jin at the head of the table by Hoseok and Chan sat at the other end.

"How's JK?" Chan asked Lisa.

"Asleep," she replied before stuffing a large helping in her mouth, signaling that she didn't want to talk. Chan nodded his head in understanding. Hoseok went to say something but was cut off by a pager beeping.

Jin looked down at his pager in concern before bolting out of his chair towards the stairs. The others with the exclusion of Felix followed after him. They dashed up the stairs and Jin pushed open Jungkook's and Lisa's bedroom door, their eyes locked onto the empty bed.

"Jungkook?!" Jin called out to the still room, only the sounds of their heavy breathing and a long beep from the EKG signaling that there was no heartbeat registered.

A tiny whimper echoed in the large room. Lisa pushed past the older and walked to the other side of the bed. She crouched down and leaned forward, half of her body hidden by the bed.

"Kookie?" She whispered, "you're okay. You're safe. You're home," she placed her hand on Jungkook's knee, which was pulled up to his chest, but removed it when he flinched at the physical contact.

"Home?" Jungkook whispered, his face hidden by his knees.

"Yeah, baby. We moved into this beautiful house. I can show you around when you're ready. Do you want that Kook?" She sat back on her heels, her hands resting on her legs.

"Lis?" Jungkook peeked his eyes over his legs, his forehead hidden underneath his long bangs.

"Yes, baby?" Lisa smiled softly at her boyfriend.

"Promise?" his arms visibly tightened around his legs, as if he was trying to make his body smaller.

"Promise what, Kookie?" she tilted her head to the side but made no other movements, afraid to startle him.
