DARCY
I leaned my head against the car window as we pulled up to our new house in California, I examined the house as a chill went down my spine and gave me goosebumps on my arms. I rolled my eyes and got out of the old Honda civic making my way to the truck where my luggage was. A breeze hit me and I let out a sigh, crooning my petite arms to keep some heat in.
"Can you pop the trunk mom?" I asked in a settle tone, waiting for the trunk to click open. It swung open making the familiar clicking noise and I grabbed my Nike back pack and two big black suitcases. I walked up to the front door and stopped. I saw something out of the corner if my eye making me snap my head in its direction. A girl wearing a blue dress stood there with a giddy smile on her face, it was obvious that she had Down syndrome, I gave her a small smile and put my attention back on the wood door that separated me from my new "home". I grabbed the handle and opened it making it creak, I winced at the sound but opened it widely so my suitcases could get in.
"You're going to die in there." The girl with a head full of long black curls said. Her voice sounded sincere but evil at the same time. I knitted my eyebrows together and shook it off. I finally walked in and let my feet take me to my new room I had picked out a few weeks ago where I found that my furniture was already there. I sighed as I plopped down on my bed, still wearing my back pack. I heard a quiet but small knock on my bedroom door and peered up. I lightly gasped when I saw a boy around my age walking through the crack I had left open.
"Hi, I'm Tate. I'm your neighbor." He introduced, offering me his hand. I looked at it then looked in his eyes, I finally shook his hand and I saw a smile smirk tug at his plump lips. I stood up and noticed how much taller he was than me, at least 8 inches.
"I'm Darcy." I smiled showing my straight white teeth. He finally let his lips part in a smile when I told him my name. I looked down at my feet for a moment then back up to his puppy dog brown eyes.
"I should really unpack..." I said starting to get uncomfortable. Tate nodded and walked to one if my suitcases, unzipping it. I took a piece of my long, straight brown hair and tucked it behind my ear.
"What are you doing?" I asked, uneasily shifting my standing position. He looked at me as if I were crazy.
"Helping you unpack?" He giggled, continuing to empty out the contents of my bag. I slightly nodded causing me to feel vulnerable somehow. My eyes wandered the dusty room and stopped at my full length mirror. I was wearing light gray sweats and a Pink blue hoodie. my hair was in a messy bun, showing some of my light brown highlights. I looked at my face and saw I was wearing my usual makeup and my diamond stud nose ring was in. I didn't look bad, just kind of like a sloppy tumblr girl. I can dig it. I looked back at Tate, seeing his bicep muscles through his thin gray long-sleeve and watching the way his curly hair bounced a little as he walked. He could tell I was starring at him so he looked right back at me. He was so... captivating. There was something about him that took my breath away! his eyes glinted with amusement as I found my mouth hung slightly opened. I shut it immediately and felt my cheeks burn red as he just did his adorable giggle, showing off his dimple. I could get used to it here, but there was something still in the back off my mind. Screaming. Telling me to leave. Why?
