DARCY

I have been in the house for about three weeks now and things are getting... weird. The basement door is always open, everyone gives me funny looks when I walk in or out of my damn house, and I think I'm starting to see things. I was walking past the basement door as it creaked open, I looked inside and watched the bottom of the stairs for a while, I almost turned away from the negative place when I saw a red ball roll out of the dark. I let out a little shriek and quickly shut the door. I turned to walk away and I rammed into Tate, again. I didn't question it, I just wrapped my arms around him as if he were my savior...My guardian angel.

"Something's down there." I whispered pulling away, my little hands still attached to his warm shoulders. He let out a small sigh and slowly brushed a piece of loose hair from my face.

"You'll always be safe with me Darcy." He comforted giving me his heart melting smile.

"I know." I cheekily whispered, leaning in and kissing his perfectly sculpted jaw line. He let out a hum and took my hand in his and started walking to the kitchen. All of a sudden I heard a knock at the door that made me jump about 3 inches. Tate watched me as I walked to the door and peered out the eyehole. I saw a woman with blood coming from her head. My breath drew thick and shaky.

"Hello?" I asked calmly.

"Hi ma'am, I'm hurt and needing assistance, can you help me?" She said in a monotone voice. I looked at Tate, he wasn't there. I began to panic, frantically looking around me and trying to spot him.

"I-I can't let you in..." I mumbled.

"Please ma'am." She persisted. I backed away from the door as I heard her vicious knocks, knuckles making hard contact with the only thing separating us.

"Tate?" I whispered. The knocking stopped and so did my heavy breathing. Out of no where she burst through my front door and tackled me to the hard wood floor, pushing out all my oxygen. I told mom we should have gotten a dead bolt! I struggled under her, knowing I was too small to do anything. she out both if my arms above my head with one hand and a brick in her other.

It went black.
